We had the good fortune of connecting with Ayanna Amar and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ayanna, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started my business as a creative outlet that fulfilled a lifelong passion and skillset. Furthermore ,my business is an opportunity to share entrepreneurial skills with other young woman.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a Cosmetologist by trade but I specialize in hair care, growth as well as coloring . What sets me apart from others would be my passion for my clients hair and the care I have for them, I tend to build relationships with my clients. Excitement exudes from me when I think about my potential and the growth and expansion of my company and brand. my parents instilled in me that you have to Aim High to Rise and the sky is the limit for me! A major lesson that Ive learned in this business is that you have to move at your own pace, block out outside interferences and that everything is in God’s timing. Oftentimes, people see the outcome and it appears easy but in all honesty, this journey hasn’t been easy but it is definitely worth it.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
As of late, I have been an in the house girl! As we enter our fifth surge of Covid-19 its important that I limit my activities to ensure that I am keeping my clientele safe. I do love a good outdoor brunch at SoLou’s with the girls with bottomless mimosa’s.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost all successes come from my faith in God and his word. With that being said, I owe a great deal of homage to my mother that instilled in me that I can do all things that I put my heart, mind and passion into. She pushed me to trust in my God given ability and to believe that I was equipped with everything I needed. I am also, grateful to my father, grandparents and village of supporters that have guided me over the course of my life. I am ever so grateful to my best friend Kanyra that has been a listening ear and sounding board for all aspects of my life. Lastly, I am thankful for the Cosmetology foundation and education that I received from the Paul Mitchell School. The education received has prepared me for this journey.
