We had the good fortune of connecting with Bailey Riley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bailey, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Art is love. Art is self-care. Art is therapy.
I worked in the corporate world since graduating college and it wasn’t for me. I was deeply unhappy. It showed immensely. I’ve always been a creative person and working in corporate was very draining.
I stumbled upon my career by trying to diy and realized how good I was at it and how happy it made me. I knew from the first moment that what’s what I wanted for my life.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is for the client who loves a luxurious feel. My art has depth to it. And is the perfect accessory to a home. My pieces have lots of texture, small details, and parts of them where it has the it factor. Even the simple pieces.
I’m most excited about how far I’ve come and how much more I am valuing my worth. From the very first time I picked up a paint tool to now, I’m a different person. I’ve grown.
Being an Artist is not easy. Rather than it being just a business, it’s an emotional journey. Art comes from the soul so it reflects how you are feeling, what your mood is, the space to work, etc. With a new addition (baby girl) that has changed a lot of that for me. I’m learning to roll with the punches and adjust and improvise.
My brand is growing. Just like me. My story is just beginning.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would check out Bar 5015 a grown and sexy vibe. Then the Turkey leg hut for great food and it’s like a tourist staple now. Lighthouse church for good worship service. Probably a comedy show too because we love to laugh.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to first thank God for everything. Then my husband and mother. If it wasn’t for them I would’ve tucked my tail and crawled back into the corporate world.
Entrepreneurship is hard. Lately, people have turned entrepreneurship into some sort of romance novel, and it’s not. So I’m so appreciative of the support and backing from them.
