Meet Bernadette Walls | Owner- Makeup By Beauty Bee, LLC

We had the good fortune of connecting with Bernadette Walls and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bernadette, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
For as long as I can remember I have loved makeup. During college I worked as a makeup artist, but after graduation I left the profession to pursue my degree in Music Education. In 2019, after suffering a devastating loss, I was searching for joy and reconnected with my love of makeup. After a few months of posting makeup looks online and doing my friends makeup for their special occasions I created Makeup By Beauty Bee, LLC. I wanted to create a business from passion where I could bring joy to others.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have 14 years experience as a public school educator, which has provided me a unique opportunity to work with a diverse clientele. This experience has given me a deeper understanding and an ability to connect with customers.

Moving into the roll of business owner has had many challenges, mostly with coming out of my introverted nature into someone advocating for my business. As a classically trained musician who is use to performing, I have had to tap into that personality when advertising or marketing my business.

The biggest lesson I have learned is to ask questions. Become acquainted with small business owners in your area. In my experience they are more than happy to give you advice or answer your questions.

I want the world to know that there is beauty for ashes, and out of a devastating time there can be a rebirth. Finding your passion and using it to create a life is the goal. My brand is all about enhancing your natural beauty and giving you the confidence to see your best self. I want Makeup By Beauty Bee to be an inspiration to anyone struggling or not confident to take a leap of faith.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Some of my favorite girls night spots in Houston are, Bosscat Kitchen & Libations and A’Bouzy. They have a really fun atmosphere and great desserts!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Above anything else, God deserves all recognition in my journey to start Makeup By Beauty Bee. His unconditional mercy and guidance has lead me to this business opportunity. I am fortunate enough to belong to a great church that provides guidance in both my spiritual and professional journey.
