We had the good fortune of connecting with Bethany Bailey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bethany, how does your business help the community or world?
I have been so proud to work for RCA for 20 years. One of the reasons for this is what we do every day — help people. I get to help people of all races, all social backgrounds, it is very rewarding. What we do is help every day people who have medical bills they cannot pay, get financial assistance to help pay those bills. Some of the processes we help our patients with are very cumbersome, confusing and lengthy. We are trained to understand the process and help our patients understand the processes as well. We provide transportation for appointments and call to update them every time we see there is a change or we need something from them to help the case progress faster. When we finally obtain coverage, our patients are so thankful for the help. This is what makes me love what I do. Helping the communities we serve get patients the help they deserve.

Please tell us more about your business. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges?
Resource Corporation of America started out as a small company in the state of Washington. From that small office space, we have expanded to states across the country. We are 25 years old, which means I started from year 5. There are growing pains when you are small and the company grows, but what we never let go of was realizing we are here for the hospitals we serve and the patients that need us. Many companies in this industry grow so big, they forget why they are here and what is most important. RCA has never done this and they never will. We have seen the hospital industry consolidate and choose options that we know are not for the best interest of the patient, however, we continue to offer the best solution for self pay patients in the industry. This solution is a real person reaching out, we keep people in the business because that is who we work with every day. This is the reason why I believe we are truly successful. Hospitals see such a difference when they choose to work with us and we know why! We say we are the “go to resource for at risk dollars”. When a hospital chooses RCA, we always hear what a difference we are making. It is rewarding to know we make such a difference for them.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love to eat local. Any time I want to go out I usually check out Nick’s local eats on my Facebook page for local places around the Houston area. Especially in times today, supporting local is so important and fun. Any place that has live music where you can eat some great food and have a great time is where I am! I also love sports. I normally would take friends out for the Astros, Dynamo, Dash, Rockets but for now it would be to eat at a great place where we can watch. Golf would be included in the visit because my family loves to get out and play!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would not be where I am today without the support of a great team in RCA. The people I work with all have a love for helping others. We have a bond and work hard to help out patients because we really love doing it. The success of what we do for our patients is not just my success, it is every one who works beside me, every day.
