We had the good fortune of connecting with Bhriean Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bhriean, looking back, what do you think was the most difficult decision you’ve had to make?
The most difficult decision I had to make was quitting my job to attend cosmetology school at Paul Mitchell full time. It was the most satisfying yet scariest thing I’ve ever done in my life. I literally leaped into something new and had faith that this was my purpose in life. Once I left, I honestly felt a sense of peace and never looked back.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My brand, Blissfully Bhrie, is a luxury hair extension company. I’ve always had a passion for hair and the beauty industry. I watched so many YouTube videos and women on social media with gorgeous hair over the years. I am finishing my journey in cosmetology school at Paul Mitchell Clear Lake which is amazing. I always told myself I would create a brand for people to have a luxurious look without breaking the bank. Which is why I constantly research and source the best possible hair I can find. Blissfully Bhrie is a brand that I stand behind because we give people a great product and my team is always available for any possible questions or concerns. I am originally from Louisiana and moved to Houston after college to work at a cancer hospital. I watched so many people go through changes in their physical appearance, it was heartbreaking. In the midst of my time there, I started to dive into glue-less wigs to offer to my clients. Although this journey as an entrepreneur is not easy, it’s something that brings me peace. I devote my time and energy into making sure my clients look their absolute best. I experienced shipment delays, stolen packages, you name it especially during Covid. Those challenges didn’t break me. I continued to produce great customer service and the integrity of my business a positive space. Blissfully Bhrie Hair Extensions is not only something I’ve birthed but it’s the smile I see on people’s face when they receive their order or in the chair at the hair salon. My brand is for the community and to teach not only myself, but others around me to continue striving for greatness. Do not allow naysayers or any negativity to stop you from achieving your goals. I learned to not take things personally and to run my own race instead of watching others. Success is not an overnight process.. I want the world to know that my luxury brand will continue to grow and I want people to know that I stay up late (2-3/4am) communicating with my vendors sourcing the best product I can find. I refuse to attach something less of my best to my brand. Blissfully Bhrie Hair Extensions does not have a celebrity influence behind it for followers and likes. I put my tears, dedication, and all of my energy into serving the people. I believe this was my purpose.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Houston has a wide range of mixed cultures so I would definitely visit some black owned businesses such as Prey, The Houston food truck park near NRG, a Caribbean spot Burbon Sizzler, Taste Bar, and a ton of other spots. Since I am from Louisiana, I crave seafood sometimes so I love Neyows. Houston has an array of food and drink options around the city.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shoutout everyone who work daily on their dreams despite all odds. It’s so encouraging seeing people of all ages, especially in my culture succeeding and finding their passion and not settling. . I’m constantly looking for inspiration and people who had to work hard to create their success. I would also like to highlight my husband, my amazing son, and my family. My little circle encourage me daily to push through any obstacles I face or to remind me how strong I am. I’m so grateful to have an awesome support system around me.
