We had the good fortune of connecting with Codi Wiener MD. and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Codi, what do you attribute your success to?
The true desire to do what I do. To really care about my patients and their successes.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am an OB/Gyn at Texas Children’s Hospital since 2012. I take a holistic approach to women’s health. This means I focus a lot on the whole patient, especially her nutrition and overall well being. I discovered that I have a passion for women’s health while in the Peace Corps in Ecuador. That’s where I realized that sometimes women need a little assistance and education in finding their voice. I really enjoy empowering women through improved health and contraceptive choices. Then, women can feel physically and mentally better, more energetic and can live up to their full potential.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
El Tiempo on Richmond, Cafe Annies, Dori Metropolitan, any Chris Shephard restaurant. If kids are coming: Levy Park, Evelyn’s Park for the Alice in Wonderland statues, Discovery Green
for runners: Memorial Park
spa: Trellis and Post Oak Hotel
farmers market: Urban Harvest on Saturday
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
All the female physicians that came before me and paved the way. we are still working on equal pay and respect in the field of medicine though.
