We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandon Kafarela and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brandon, how does your business help the community?
The Texas Fashion Industry Initiative (501c3) serves as the state’s official nonprofit dedicated to the positive growth of the Texas fashion industry through career development and empowerment programming for fashion creatives and entrepreneurs.
As a designer based in Houston (of brand MOLLY x NIKO @mollyxniko), I have personally benefited from TFII programming and look forward to helping carry our their mission as a board member.
The fashion community can expect professional development workshops every month at no cost for members, and only $15 for non-members. Topics include Manufacturing, Fashion Law, Social Media for Fashion Professionals and more from instructors such as Claire Criss of JC Penney, David Jones of DJL Partners, and other industry experts. Networking opportunities, town halls, and fundraisers benefiting other nonprofits will also be taking place throughout the year.
The TFII board of directors also includes award-winning designer Austin Alegria, Patricia Fernandez, Carolyn Erickson of the Briscoe Museum, Joel Rivas of HaganRivas Media Group, DJ Catwalk (Brittany Myers), Nichelle Hosley of Interior Design Meets Fashion, and co-founder of Texas Fashion Week™, Saige Thomas.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Texas Fashion Industry initiative strives to educate local fashion enthusiasts and entrepreneurs to promote their craft and accelerate their businesses. We then bring worldwide awareness by organizing fashion experiences that showcase our members and these growing businesses, such as TEXAS FASHION WEEK™. Last year, Forbes Magazine was invited to TEXAS FASHION WEEK™ and recognized Texas as an emerging North American fashion hub. The full write up can be found here: https://www.forbes.com/
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
