Meet Brent L Smith | Creative Director/Choreographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Brent L Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brent L, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My first thought was this is something I have to do because I was exhausted and stressed teaching within the school system. So I needed my company to become full time.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a Creative Director/ Dancer/ Choreographer who lives and breathes the arts. It was not a easy road getting to this point and sometimes it’s still not easy being here. Performing arts is not always the forefront in the funding pool so we have to do much more work to be recognized in our craft and what it is that we do. I also struggled with my health for years in the process so I made allot of sacrifices to get to this point. I want everyone to know that I am a survivor I fight daily for where I am and who I am as well as where I am dreaming to be.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to eat seafood. Have some drinks in montrose and visit with more of our family and friends. As well as take them to some dance or open mic shows within the area of any are going on at that time.
