We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Donovan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brittany, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Behold & Flourish was in the making in 2018 and launched in 2019. I saw a need to create a gathering and to begin a community for women to gather in the heart of Houston — A place for women to celebrate the uniqueness of one another by embracing who we are in a world full of comparison. A destination where creativity, community & conversation have no limits!
The idea came from the desire to continue gatherings outside of life events such as weddings, baby showers, bridal showers, birthday’s, etc. Why does the celebration have to stop there? There is ALWAYS something to celebrate!
I have a background in event planning, I love all things that catch my eye for beauty, and just have a big heart for empowering women in their current season of life. When you combine all of those things together – you have Behold & Flourish. Creativity arises from our potential to learn from different experiences, and this is why we gather! To share and gain perspective from others. We learn as we grow in community!
At each of our gatherings we desire for women to find rest, connect with other women in their city & grow in ways that will stretch them one step closer into who they were called to be. We long for each event to be multi-generational & believe that the collaborative uniqueness of all seasons of life have something to contribute to the table!
Here we are entering into 2022 and we are so expectant for what this year has in store for us!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Behold & Flourish is an intimate community-based gathering in Houston, Texas. This gathering is hosted once every season in various places within the greater Houston area. Our biggest desire for these events is to create a space for women to rest, connect, & grow relationally and spiritually. A place for women to celebrate the uniqueness of one another by embracing who we were created to be in a world full of comparison. A destination where creativity, community & conversations have no limits! All backgrounds and seasons of life are welcomed at each gathering. When we radically shift our expectations and create an atmosphere where everyone belongs, we have unmatched opportunity to better understand the heart of God. Those moments are made best at the table — over conversations, shared meals, worship, creativity & more.
In the standard event industry, the demand is usually set by the client’s requests from start to finish. Behold & Flourish is unique in the way that we personally create each event with all details, in expectance that women want to come and enjoy what we have created for them. This journey has been such a faith builder — knowing that God will provide, pour out His favor & reveal Himself in the most beautiful ways in all event details. Having confidence in the calling that God has set before me & my team is assurance that He will always come through with His promises!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love this question! Houston has some of the best restaurants, bars and amazing places to visit.
I am a big fan of cycling so we would take a class at Soul Cycle or Revolution Studio, maybe get smoothies at Juiceland or grab lunch at Sweet Green, walk the Bayou to my favorite coffee shop Blendin and see where the day takes us!
Top restaurants & bars I would take my bestie to…there’s a ton, so take notes!
Concura, Eunice, Savoir, Fields & Tides, Indianola, Squabble, Poscol — all the vibesss, amazing selection of drinks and *chef’s kiss* delicious food! Favorite bars to hang & enjoy good drinks would have to be julep or SIP (the speakeasy at Savoir)!
Also, you can’t go wrong with a good spa day – so maybe checking into Milk & Honey for a good massage or facial for a fun girl’s day!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Behold & Flourish would not be where we are today without the love and support of others.
First and foremost, I would like to thank God for the vision he instilled in me years ago to begin this. His heart for this city, the women in it and his desire to see people empowered and come together is just indescribable. Behold & Flourish wouldn’t be the same without His wisdom, support and favor.
Second, I would like to thank my team. Two amazing women — Jennifer Rivas and Cara Martin for their creativity, ideas, support, servant hearts, wisdom, sacrifice, prayers, loyalty and the list could go on. They carry so much weight to this team and I am forever grateful!
And of course, the women who have come to our gatherings, connected with us on social media, have supported us through purchasing merch, shared our events, and more — YOU make up the foundation of Behold & Flourish and we wouldn’t exist without your loyalty, encouragement and support!
Lastly, my MVP of a husband, Michael Donovan. Before B&F was just an idea to where we are today, he has been my backbone, counsel, covering, and the muscle of all of our gatherings. The things he has done behind the scenes just shares volume to who he is. His love has no bounds and is my number one fan. I love him so deeply for the ways he has let me take on this venture I am forever grateful for his love and support through and through!
