We had the good fortune of connecting with Brook Stanley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brook, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
What makes me happy in life is my passion for my family and photography! As a mom of five little ladies, I know the value of family photos. It is important to freeze those precious memories.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
It all started with a little point and shoot camera back in middle school and from there the rest is history. I’m best known for my bold, yet warm and authentic images. I am forever chasing the glow of Texas’s golden hour! What sets me apart from others is my desire to create images that capture the natural bond between couples and families. One thing I LOVE is looking back at my own family photos. I can vividly remember my daughter’s laughter and from them, there is nothing sweeter. I want to capture these small moments for my clients to hold on to for a lifetime. Setbacks? Yes there have been a few. Like all small businesses, there have been some bumps in the road. One of the biggest challenges I have faced is trying to navigate the home vs work life balance. Since I dominantly work from home it can be a struggle to know when to stop. There is constantly a feeling of mom guilt but I’ve learned to give myself some grace and set boundaries.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Houston and its surrounding cities always have something going on, and there are so many places to explore. My favorite lunch spot is at Cork Screw BBQ, it is by far the best BBQ I’ve ever had (other than home cooked)! After lunch, Luliet Creamery and Bakeshop is the best place in town for some sweets. Luliet has the best homemade ice cream and cookies! Their Mint Chocolate Chip is my favorite ice cream!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would have to give a shoutout to my husband for always putting up with my shenanigans…and there has been plenty of them! But in all seriousness he really is the unseen backbone of my business; from helping create props, moving furniture, and keeping me on time.
