We had the good fortune of connecting with Cameron Bruno and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cameron, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Now that I’m a professional makeup artist, I still get to obtain my childlike spirit through my career. I’ve always been into performing arts since a little kid from drawing to singing and dancing. The arts were a form of expression for me and gave me lots of peace. Even as I faced challenges in my upbringing as a creative, my passion for it gave me a thrill to become better. It’s truly a treasure to be able to maintain the purity of passion as I do it for a living.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The goal is for my brand to mean more than a makeup service. I’ve spent 7 long years teaching myself perfectly crafted techniques to please my clients. However, it means nothing if they do not feel the love behind the craft. That’s what separates me from other artists. I am proud to say that my heart shows not only through my work, but most importantly throughout my clients’ experiences. It gives me a thrill knowing that there’s always so much more room to grow just as I did in my adolescence. I’ve made plenty of sacrifices, but one of the biggest was quitting my job and moving from Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Houston, Tx at 19yrs old to go to school so that I could pursue my career. The journey was not easy and I felt lost at times, but as I grew closer to God he was there helping every step of the way. I’ve learned as an entrepreneur that you must have faith, do your research, and find resources. Unfortunately, I believed for a long time that it was possible to find success on my own, but now that I have established my work in a new state, obtained a consistent clientele and my own studio, I’ve realized that the journey could’ve been easier if I’d been humbled back then. However, by asking for help with a studious heart and diligently performing all the great things that I’ve learned, the key to success would’ve been easier to find. The journey looks different for everyone, but growing in heart is the most important part.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Everyone knows is that I love food and esthetics so of course I would love to go where I can eat good and look my best for picture purposes like at Joey Uptown on Westheimer. I’m also very goofy sometimes and love exploring cool things so if I would take my bestie somewhere to show her a good time it would definitely be at the Museum of Illusions in the Galleria mall. We would definitely go shopping and then I’ll take her to go ride electric scooters around Discovery Green park.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First, I would like to thank the Most High God for my gifts, talents, health and the people he’s worked through to help me along this path. My mom Raychiel Yelling is the second that I would love to thank because she wanted me to have what she didn’t as a child. My teachers and mentors are the third that I would love to thank because they’re the army who helped mold me when I was in the rough. Lastly, I would love to thank my team of models and photographers especially Folarin Famuyiwa, Rony Agenor, and Mike Rogunwa.
