We had the good fortune of connecting with Cassie Huber and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cassie, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When I first started my business I was straight out of highschool, working at my dads restaurant, and I had planned on it just being a side hustle during college before I started a career in the law enforcement field. In the beginning I only offered spray tanning as a service, I was a competitive cheerleader for 9 years so I was super familiar with the whole spray tanning process since I was getting them done almost every other week for competitions. My background with cheer and spray tanning coupled with an empty air conditioned treehouse in my backyard was what gave me the idea to start my business while I was still living at home as a way to make extra money, I had the space and the means so I took the risk and spent all of my savings on a spray tanning machine and supplies! Over time however, my thought process on the business has changed tremendously, it’s now my only source of income and I plan for it to continue growing and be the career I have for the rest of my life, major detour from the original law enforcement plan but ultimately I know that this is what I’m meant to be doing.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
When I started my business I only offered spray tanning services but over the past 2 years my service selection has grown into lashes, brows, and nails as well. While I still offer all of these services in my studio, nails have become my main focus and I now specialize in nail art more so than anything else. Doing nails has become such a passion of mine because of the freedom in creativity that I have with it. I would say what sets me apart most as an artist is the variety of services I have in my skill set, I’m pretty much a one stop shop which I know a lot of my clients appreciate and love. I’m most proud of the dedication and consistency I’ve had with building my business and especially with the progress I’ve made in my artistic abilities, I never even thought I was capable of doing some of things I do these days. Getting to this point took a lot of trial, error, and learning but ultimately the challenges have been worth it. Running a business alone is extremely difficult, essentially as a solo business owner you’re doing the work of about 10+ people, you’re in charge of content, finances, performing services, marketing, management, customer service, and the list just keeps going on. In my opinion time management has been my biggest struggle and learning curve, trying to figure out how to allocate enough time to each of the individual jobs within my business on top of performing services was hard to say the least and that’s not even taking into account the time for my personal/social life and school. Over time I’ve figured out what works best for me and my schedule but the learning never stops in this industry, I’m constantly learning new things and running into new obstacles to overcome. If there’s anything that I want people to know about me and my brand it’s that I value the quality of my work and I love my job, I’m a major perfectionist and I genuinely have a passion for what I do so I truly try to deliver the best service that I can.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My absolute favorite breakfast spot in Kingwood is Kingwood Bagel, they’re a local small business and their food is absolutely amazing! My dad also owns a restaurant in the area called Bills Cafe which is where I previously worked before starting my own business, it’s a super casual American food joint! Our food is great and I swear I’m not saying that just because we own it haha! As far as activities go, Kingwood is a pretty quiet place, we do have a lot of nature and parks though hence why we’re called “The liveable forest”.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I dedicate my success to all of the people who have supported me during my journey the past few years, my family, friends, clients, and followers are the only reason I’m where I’m at today. I love and appreciate you all and can’t thank you enough!
