We had the good fortune of connecting with Cathedral J. Crockton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cathedral J., why did you pursue a creative career?
I didn’t actively choose an artistic or creative career; rather, music chose me. Born deaf, I was not expected to hear, especially music. However, when God healed me, my love for music blossomed. I truly believe that I was called to share this gift, and my ability to hear is a divine blessing that allows me to make music.

Playing and singing are deeply personal for me—I have the opportunity to engage in something I was once told I could never do, and this fuels my passion. I have always viewed life through an artistic lens, swiftly interpreting the music I hear in countless ways.

When asked if I will ever stop playing, my answer is no; I’ll continue as long as I am able, as music is essential to my life. I have been playing since the age of three, often finding myself unable to sleep as melodies and ideas raced through my mind. I am confident that one day the world will recognize my passion and embrace the unique sound that God has given me.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
– I’m a musician, vocalist, and song writer.

– I believe what sets me apart is that I try to take music to another place where it’s not just heard but felt. Also, when I play and sing, a person can feel every vein of it.

– I’m most proud about my music being able to reach people on bigger platforms.

– I had a passion and love for what I do since childhood which led to hard work and constant work ethic. I got where I am today professionally because of my faith in the Lord, consistency, and putting in the hard work to be phenomenal! There were times when it became arduous especially since I wasn’t formally taught how to play. So, it challenged me to work on my own, listen sternly, and study diligently to perfect my craft.

– The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to never compare yourself or sound to someone else. I feel that the Lord has given me a specific sound for a specific purpose.

– As far as my Brand, every time someone hears my music, I want it to give them a complete experience. I want the world to know that if you’re truly called to do something, the Lord will give you the resources needed to accomplish your purpose.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Here’s a quick peek of a day’s itinerary where I would take my best friend if he visits for a week’s long trip. He and I would start the day off at the gym with an intense workout and pumping iron for a couple of hours. Afterwards, we’ll head to a healthy lunch at Nick’s (Galveston, TX) by the beach waters for a chance to chill and chat, especially after a vigorous workout! Then – it’s time for us to hang out in H-Town! Our first stop would be a round of golf or until one of us hits a birdie on the greenery! After a competitive game of golf for us sports enthusiasts, my best friend and I would head to NRG Stadium, Toyota Center, Daikin Park, and Shell Energy Stadium to sightsee homes of the Houston Texans, Houston Rockets, Houston Astros, and Houston Dynamos. Finally, after a fun-filled day, my best friend and I are now ready to wind down the evening. Before heading home, we would grab some dinner at Delta Blues (Webster, TX) to reminisce about the memorable day and, without hesitation, make an itinerary for another adventuresome day!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to extend my heart-felt thanks and appreciation to a few people who are instrumental to my “Hold Your Peace” Production journey. First and foremost, my parents have been my rock and support system since birth! They have always instilled Christian values and Godly wisdom that will forever be ingrained in my heart; hence, the reason why I’m so grateful to pay homage to my Father with a deeply meaningful and high-impact musical tribute on Sun., Nov. 9, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. (Central), Church of the Bay located at 2047 West Main Street #C5, League City, TX 77573.

Words cannot express how much love and admiration I have for my spouse of 7 years. She immediately supported and acquiesced to my mission and vision when I shared my sincere desire to pay tribute to my Father; furthermore, she knows that tenacity and persistence inspire me to pursue and conquer just about anything that I set out to do. My spouse never ceases to encourage me because she knows the passion that’s in my heart is to somehow turn my desire into reality which pushes me in a direction that’s uniquely designed just for me!

Last but not least, Output Music Group LLC (OMG)/Wayne Brezz deserves most of the credit and recognition because they took my desire and strategically turned it into reality! OMG is working tirelessly to share my music mission and vision with a plethora of people regarding my faith-driven, theatrical concert designed to honor the life and legacy of my Father to inspire and move hearts, shed light on healing, resilience, and calling.
