We had the good fortune of connecting with Cathrine Hymes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cathrine, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to create a product where women could feel more safer when traveling from A to B. I used to work at night and I would be paranoid heading home in the dark. Also, I have been seeing a lot of kids, teenagers and women getting abducted and killed. SheRecklessBoutique is a self defense line where I create or provide self defense products for women and also, men. Products are for 18 and older and for responsible use.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I received my Bachelors in Administration of Justice. I graduated from college and I started to work in the prison system. Working in the prison system was very challenging but I overcame my fears. I currently work for a police department also working on gaining my paralegal certification. The lessons I’ve learned is to never doubt yourself always push yourself to achieve anything you put your mind to and put that goals list into action.
