We had the good fortune of connecting with Cecilia Valdez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cecilia, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I have always loved being creative and was something I knew I would make it into a career. When I started doing make up on my self, it made me feel good and my confidence kept growing. I wanted everyone who sat in my chair to feel good and also gain self confidence and feel good about them selves.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Beauty by Ceci has definitely become unique in its own way. Many of my followers know that I love Mexican sweet bread known as conchas. Not only does it represent my Hispanic culture but it also represents my followers as I like to call them my conchas. It is ,y way to show love and appreciation for all of the support they have given me.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There are many places in Houston to have a good time and some good food. Being raised in el barrio de magnolia, I have to show some love to some of the local business that the neighborhood has to offer. For a good burger and a variety of options, I have to say Seafood kitchen is one of the go to places in the neighborhood. For some good drinks or even just dinner and a movie, City Centre is always a good place to go because it has a little bit of everything for everyone.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have a couple of people to thank that have contributed a big part in my beauty career. My grandmother, Dora De La Cruz for always pushing me to be successful and showing me not to quit even when it got tough. Although my momo is no longer with me, she is still a motivation in my life and will always love her dearly for that. My husband Sergio Moreno, he has always been there for me no matter for no matter what came my way. He is definitely my number 1 supporter and has always keeps me uplifted. Last But not least my PR manager Jay Hernandez Lozano, Jay has always helped me think outside the box with my business and has encouraged me to set high goals for myself and my beauty career. Jay is not only my PR manager but has now become family.
