We had the good fortune of connecting with Chaille Thomas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chaille, what matters most to you?

In my personalization and private tutoring businesses I strive to always go the extra mile. I’ve noticed over the years as I go to different places, personal interest in the customer is lacking. Especially when dealing with my students I strive to do more than just what is expected of me. This shows my clients I take my job seriously and will always go over and beyond. I work really hard to create designs and products that are trendy, high quality, and really make my clients idea come to life. When engaging with my students I do my best to make a difference each session. I try to be a tutor as well as a support system or mentor. I become what they need me to be. It brings me so much joy when I see messages and Instagram posts showing their appreciation for my efforts. This appreciation brightens my day and keeps me going during the hard days.

What should our readers know about your business?
Both of my business ventures stem from a love of helping others. I took the leap and quit teaching full time in order to more fully participate in a worldwide volunteer ministry. Even though this was a sacrifice the blessings outweigh the worries a hundred times over. I am still a teacher at heart so I work for VIPKID teaching Chinese students English online during the wee hours of the morning. In the evenings I tutor students that are mostly from Houston. Due to COVID I have switched to virtual tutoring but it has continued to be amazing experience. My custom personalization business is my side hustle. I enjoy crafting and being a part of the creative process to make others ideas come to life. It took me awhile to “master” the Cricut machine, but now I have come to enjoy it so much. Sometimes I still can’t believe that random people want something I made. It is such a great feeling! I have learned the importance of keeping a work life balance. I take time for myself and my family. Staying busy is great, but self care and rest is just as important.Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am a foodie. A fun hangout for me is an amazing restaurant. Doesn’t have to be anything fancy just good food and good vibes. My favorite restaurants in Houston are Oporto in Midtown and Fat Bao on Kirby. Totally different ends of the spectrum but both phenomenal in their own right. Order anything at either place it is all good! The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My friends always support my business ventures. They respect my hustle and do everything they can to spread the word. By their referrals and social media posts I have gained so much business for both my private tutoring as well as my customization business. Saving the best for last, I have to thank my husband. He has an eye for design so he always helps me make the designs and placements perfect!
