We had the good fortune of connecting with Charmaine James and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Charmaine, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind success is the fruit it yields. You must look at what is successfully bearing fruit in your life. The fruit is not just for you, but can it feed multitudes. Better yet can it feed generations to come. My success should affect generations to come; it should make it easier for them. The next generation shouldn’t have to fight the battles I fight. I measure my success on how it affects others.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Pastor Charmaine James is an intercessor and ordained minister with a passionate desire to see revival and transformation happen across the world. She connects with churches, leaders, and ministries from around the world to help establish God’s kingdom in their areas of influence. Charmaine believes that if the church will minister to the hearts of the individuals in our communities, they’ll have a desire to embrace the body of Christ. The church holds the keys for transformation in their region; stepping out of the four walls of our churches will help unlock the destinies of our regions. Charmaine is honored to be a part of a movement that began in 2016 “Not In My City ®.” God released NIMC to her through intercessory prayer. God’s desire for Not In My City® is to help bring racial reconciliation inside and outside of the four walls of the church. Charmaine believes regional transformation will bring national and global transformation.

What sets me apart from others is, I love to unify others in unlike or undesirable circumstance. What sets me apart is I’m the first ever and only African American pastoral staff in the history of my church.

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is, I am the “GAP” (God’s Appointed Person)! God chose me and qualified me to do what, He has predestined me to do. I follow His lead not others’ or my own.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
A week-long trip begins with Breakfast at J Wilson in Beaumont, Texas, travel to Galveston, Texas for some site seeing and lunch at Miller’s Seawall Grill and dinner at Gaido’s. Travel to Houston for shopping and live music at River Oaks Shopping Center, Rice Village and The Galleria. I love some of the vintage shops and other retail shops around the city. Restaurants for brunch, lunch and dinner: Agora, Croissant Brioche French Bakery & Cafe, Taste of Texas, Eddie V’s Prime Seafood, Rare, State Of Grace and Killen’s STQ. Live music and entrainment at Post HTX, Rooftop Cinema Club Uptown and House of Blues.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

My shoutout goes to a group of people who’ve helped me achieve goals I didn’t even knew existed. First, to Senior Pastors Randy & Suzann Feldschau of One City Church in Beaumont, Texas. They made an historic decision in 2010; they hired me as their first African American admin staff, ordain minister, pastoral staff and now TV show host. Thank you, Pastors, for this amazing opportunity to be a sign (betoken) of transformation and hope.

Shoutout #2 goes to Chant’e Prince of 20TV Live Katy HTX for awakening something in me that I didn’t know existed. C. Prince saw media in someone that really did not want to be in front of a camera lens. She’s helped me cultivate my gifts in the media industry to a level that I didn’t imagine I’d be. I’m
grateful that Not In My City® Unite Show is on your network. Thank you, C. Prince Media & productions Inc., for all the hard work and dedication you give your clients.
