We had the good fortune of connecting with Chema Peral and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chema, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
After all this time, the best habit for me is keep on drawing each and every day, and also, overall, believe in yourself, don’t stop making stuff.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I just fell in love with comics when I was 6 years old. Since then, I draw every day (now I’m 36… guess I’m in the 30th anniversary of me drawing!). I love to be in front of the paper with no hurry, no bad thoughts in mind… just me, the ink and a lot of papers.

This is maybe the thing I am most proud of, this energy inside of me that keeps me drawing everyday, for me, for a client, just to have some fun with my friends. Drawing is a big part of myself, I can’t see myself without this, I’m gonna do it till the day I die, take this for granted.

Yeah, I have to admit that I’m not always in the mood to draw, I’ve been through bad times, but sometimes you just have to put yourself together and push yourself to the limit and keep doing it till you’re satisfied. And it works, quote.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh that’s a good question. I have just landed in Reus, a great city in Catalonia. I am in love with this city, it has a country flavor, you can find many products produced in the surrounding towns, food, drink and many top quality things.

As a huge fan of disco and funky music, I have been fortunate enough to live next door to a record store, where I visit once a week to buy vinyl. I love buying second-hand, and here in Reus one of the largest second-hand markets is held every Saturday. You can find vinyl, books, decoration pieces and any inspiring object.

And if we talk about eating, I, who am a vegetarian, have many options and to drink the vermouth of Reus stands out.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to talk about the ones who inspire me. People like Arnal Ballester, Miguel Porlan, Clara Iris, Max, Ever Meulen, Yael Frankel, Blexbolex, Herge, Lucia Calfapietra, Jay Cover…
