We had the good fortune of connecting with Chemberli LaChaille Greene and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chemberli LaChaille, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting Homeschool with ELA was to give my son opportunities I felt were lacking in the traditional education system, from what I’d seen working as a public school teacher. Before he was old enough to ‘go to school’ we were already beginning our journey of exploring the world around us & learning as we went! It has always been about exposure – to introduce him and other kids in our program to the many people, places and things that make our world so amazing! I want to give kiddos meaningful ways to engage with the world around them – to make discoveries and really connect through experiential learning adventures! My thought process behind starting Entrepreneur Showcase Houston was to share the stories of some amazing people who are daring to follow their dreams. It evolved as I sought encouragement in my own entrepreneurial pursuits as a photographer & filmmaker. I was facing the very common challenge of gaining exposure to get customers. Not sure of the best way to go about it, I set out to tell the stories of other entrepreneurs. It was important for me to give them what I was needing – an outlet to showcase their business & support to continue living out their dreams. I believe when we follow our hearts, we can achieve incredible things & the world is made better because of it. This is why I want to share the incredible stories of people who are choosing to live out their dreams. This labor of love continues to be an inspiration to me & it is my hope that it will be for many others as well!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The vision I have for my work hasn’t been fully realized up to this point. It is my hope to simply grow my labors of love into a sustaining work that is able to support myself & my son and enhances the lives of everyone it reaches. All the while, creating a legacy for my son & equipping him with the experience and tools to build his own brand. In full disclosure, my life hasn’t unfolded the way I’d imagined it would have – up until my mid 20’s I had envisioned certain things for myself (marriage, house, well-to-do, etc.) but I’m in a much different place than that. Do I wrestle with some feelings of disappointment & uncertainty at times…absolutely! But I also recognize incredible growth in other aspects of my life – ways I have learned to maneuver and develop that wouldn’t have been achievable without experiencing these unexpected twists and turns. It is something in and of itself to be able to look back and see how my life has been challenging but also my resiliency to keep going. And I have come to appreciate that. I’m proud of me for that. Who I am now is a woman committed to pursuing my dreams and encouraging others to do the same. I’m a single mother of an incredible son who inspires me every day and for him I want to be an example of embracing oneself and honoring all that my life is. There is still so much of my story that is untold but every day presents an opportunity to learn & grow. My success and fortune have not come in the form of money but I have a peace in my heart that I’m right where I’m supposed to be, doing exactly what I was meant to do.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Two things about me…I love the outdoors and I’m free spirited so I often go with the wind. I love getting out to explore the city so my itinerary would look a little something like this: photographing art murals in EaDo grabbing a bite to eat from Luby’s or Salata’s and enjoying a sack lunch at the park weekend bicycle ride through Downtown & hitting up some of the other BCycle stations across the city (when COVID is over) trying something new, like drinks at Kamp Houston – have u seen their stacked nachos?!?! host a private paint & sip at Bisong Art Gallery with my artist friend GMadixx stay open to the possibilities – there’s fun everywhere!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mother is the single-most person who has encouraged me since day one. Without her support, it’d be near to impossible for me to do what I’m doing. I’m sure everyone can relate to having doubts in life and she has been the one to keep me going, even when I couldn’t find the hope within myself.
