Meet Christina Singleton | Tattoo Artist/PMU

We had the good fortune of connecting with Christina Singleton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christina, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
For years, I worked almost every single day—juggling Inked & Blinked while also working part-time as a contractor for NASA. At the time, I thought I could manage both, but it was simply too much. Eventually, I made the decision to leave NASA to focus more on my business, which allowed me to fit in more clients and grow Inked & Blinked—but over time, that also led to burnout.
For a while, work felt like my only priority, and I realized I was sacrificing my own well-being, personal time, and relationships. In the last couple of years, I’ve made a conscious effort to shift that. Now, I build in a few days off each week, prioritize being more present for friends and family, and give myself permission to rest.
I still believe your work should be important and taken seriously, but I also now understand that balance is essential—not just for your mental and physical health, but to avoid losing passion for what you do. Taking care of yourself isn’t a luxury; it’s a necessity.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is rooted in precision, transformation, and subtle enhancement. I specialize exclusively in permanent makeup—that’s my niche. I don’t offer anything else, and I’ve committed myself fully to mastering this craft. I focus on creating custom eyeliner and airbrushed brows that complement each client’s unique features, and I always enjoy tattooing lips too! What sets my work apart is the level of detail I put into every procedure—from the stretch, to the technique, to the pigments, to the healed results.
Every single appointment is fully customized, because no two faces are the same. I treat each client like a canvas, and I’m obsessed with creating healed results that look soft, effortless, and long-lasting.
One of the things I’m most proud of is that I built Inked & Blinked from the ground up. I’ve been a professional artist in this field for nearly a decade now. While social media can make it all look glamorous and easy, the reality has been a mix of long days, late nights, and constantly reinvesting in my craft.
This industry is incredibly expensive to stay current in—between continuing education, high-quality pigments, tools, machines, insurance, marketing, and more, it can feel overwhelming. On top of that, income can be unpredictable. We never truly know what we’ll make month to month, and that financial uncertainty can be one of the hardest parts of being an artist and a business owner.
Burnout is another challenge I’ve had to learn to navigate. I used to work non-stop, thinking that hustle was the only way to grow. Over time, I’ve realized the importance of setting boundaries, making time for rest, and creating space for life outside of work. Balance isn’t always easy, but it’s necessary for longevity in this field.
If there’s one thing I want people to know about me and my brand, it’s that everything I do comes from a genuine love for the craft. I don’t take shortcuts, and I never treat clients like numbers. Every brow, every eyeliner, every lip, every training session—I pour myself into it. I’m still growing, still competing, and still evolving as both an artist and educator in the permanent makeup industry.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend came to visit, I’d make sure they experienced the perfect mix of relaxation, great food, and some fun Houston culture. We’d start with food—Merlion in Seabrook for amazing Thai (my personal favorite) or Noon Mirch for flavorful Indian cuisine. Both are cozy and delicious, and great for long catch-up dinners.
We’d definitely plan a day trip to Galveston to hang out at The Strand—shopping, grabbing taffy, and walking along the beach. It’s a great place to slow down and enjoy the vibe.
If they were feeling adventurous, I’d offer them a little permanent makeup touch-up at Inked & Blinked—maybe brows, eyeliner, or lips. I love being able to give my friends a mini glow-up when they visit. Afterward, we’d treat ourselves to pedicures, maybe a massage or facial, and make it a full-on self-care day.
We’d also spend some downtime just hanging out with family, maybe with a cozy dinner at home or something casual in the backyard,
Maybe if we couldn’t find something to do we’d hit some of the walking trails in Houston, like Buffalo Bayou Park—it’s so scenic and perfect for walking, biking, or just enjoying the skyline views. Hermann Park is also a great stop, especially if they’re into gardens, paddle boats, or even just a walk under the oak trees. If we wanted something a little quieter, we’d head to Armand Bayou Nature Center or Bay Area Park closer to home.
To wrap up the evenings, I’d take them to somewhere fun like Postino for wine and charcuterie or a rooftop bar in Downtown Houston to take in the city views. Whether it’s chill nights with family or a few glam moments around town.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Absolutely—my biggest shoutout goes to my husband. He’s been such a constant source of support through every stage of my journey. Whether he’s helping with my illustrations, tweaking my website, being my sounding board when I need to vent, or flying across the country to attend conferences as my plus one—he shows up, every time.
His support, encouragement, and willingness to jump in wherever he’s needed have made a huge difference, not just in my business but in my peace of mind. I’m incredibly grateful to have him by my side
