We had the good fortune of connecting with Ciara Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ciara, if you are a parent, what do you think is the most important thing you’ve done as a parent in terms of the impact on your children?
The most important thing i have done as a parent, i would say is following my dreams and making them a reality. This shows my children that anything is possible despite the odds. Nothing was given to me and i didn’t have my parents here to guide me and help me along the way once i got grown but that didn’t stop me. The impact i want to have on my kids is just that! Let nothing stop you from reaching your true potential. It may not be easy but it will indeed be worth it.
Please tell us more about your art. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I am Ciara Johnson, 27, born, raised, and based out of Bryan, Texas. A licensed Cosmologist and owner of Ciara’s Hair Boutique and CHB Hair Removal. I specialize in glue-less installs, custom wigs, color, speed waxing and using hard wax with 7+ years of experience. In 2020, during the Pandemic, I released a hair care product line. Behind the scenes, I am a full time mother and wife with two beautiful children! I love fashion, taking pictures, coordinating, relaxing/pampering and positive vibes! Being my own boss has always been a dream of mine growing up, so to be able to accomplish that goal is everything. I am grateful for for everything and couldn’t have done it without the help of my wonderful clients.
What set me apart from others is that I have never been afraid to challenge myself. I strive to bring out and show my inner confidence no matter what! Even if there’s time when I’m hesitant or feel scared when trying something new, I still push myself because I am determined to reach the outcome of greatness. I’ve come to the realization that whatever I put my mind to I can achieve. It sounds cliché but it’s so true. I am multi-talented, providing various hair services and full body waxing services.
Getting to where I am today took determination, sacrifice, and patience! Although, I wanted to rush the process and jump straight into it, I knew that wouldn’t last and would end in a lot of hard lessons learned when patience is key. Lessons I’ve learned along the way is to remain patient and humble. Things will come on time and when the time is right for you!
What I want the world to know is when life throw lemons, you squeeze them, make lemonade, and push through. I lost both of my parents before the age of 23 and there are times when I get discourage and question things but I always remember God gives his toughest battles to his strongest people. After each of my parents deaths I received my blessings, my daughter and son which I feel are heaven sent. I am living what my parents taught me and I know I am doing things right! ! I hope this helps someone who has a story similar to keep pushing and to never give up. You got this!
Ciara’s Hair Boutique is a one stop shop that strives for nothing but greatness and goes above and beyond for all clients. While delivering high quality service, my mission is to create a great experience for all of my clients, to have you feeling confident and most importantly feel comfortable after leaving my salon!
Thanks for reading my story
With love,
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
BCS is such a small town with very few places to go but the first stops would definitely be century square or downtown Bryan just to enjoy the vibe! Century square is a whole strip full of fast food places, upscale restaurants, (Porters Is really good by the way) places to shop, live music and a beautiful scenery. Downtown Bryan is pretty similar, shopping boutiques, restaurants, music on first Friday and old antique buildings that are pretty interesting. I could see a day full of shopping at Ross, Target, Forever21 and Hobby Lobby ending with a self care day followed by a massage, facial and pedi! I believe in treating yourself 😉 and resting of course! Also, I wax my bestfriend and style her hair so i’m sure that would be in the week as well.
Alright, so let’s jump right in! The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there a person, group, organization, book, etc that you want to dedicate your shoutout to? Who else deserves a little credit and recognition in your story?
First, my parents, Christine and Ricky Taylor for instilling in me that my dreams were never too big and that they can and will become my reality one day! They taught me to be strong, confident, and believe. Unfortunately, they both are no longer here with us, but in my heart I know I’ve made them both proud.
My husband, Justin Johnson and children, Jaleah and Justin Johnson Jr. for being patient and super supportive as I accomplish my goals and never leaving my side! Because of them I’ve never looked back or second guessed myself. I truly thank them for making the process of transitioning from being employed to being my own boss the least stressful!
My friends and family who believed in me and never thought my vision was a joke, but pushed me to achieve. My sisters, Priscilla Taylor, Latrease Marshall, Sabrina Washington (Mother N Law) Pensacola Ward (Cousin) Trenise Barnes, Tasha Lavalais, and Alina Urrutia (Friends)
