We had the good fortune of connecting with Gloria Peterson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gloria, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’ve always had a entrepreneurial spirit. So while getting my lashes done, a thought came in….”I can do this”! This would be perfect for me! I love beauty and I love women, not to mention I make my own schedule and I’m in control of my money flow. Lash By Lash was created with women in mind. To collectively make every woman feel beautiful while enhancing their beauty with eyelash extensions.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I began my career by enrolling in an eyelash extension school in Houston, where I would complete 320 hours to be able to apply and test for my state exam. In 2016 I completed, tested and opened my business. I was the first eyelash extension salon to open in Baytown. I’m originally from California so I was so excited to be able to open this salon and offer this service in my community. I wanted to serve my community and also to feel a part of. In thinking about the concept of my business I quickly made a decision to make my salon comfortable, relaxing, and hopefully a nap time or meditation time. A time to unwind and just “be” for all of us busy women. As most of my clients say, “this is the only time to nap, I can’t wait to get here”! That’s what it’s all about, serving these women.

Through the years I’ve trained with several lash giants in the industry. Eyelash Excellence, Black Cat Lashes, & LashBox LA. I always want to learn and increase knowledge. There are always new things to learn from this rapidly growing industry. Recently I found a brand of lashes I feel I can stand behind and created a private label with more products to come. I will be adding lash cleanser, adhesive and other essential products. Top tear and reasonably priced. My brand will be affordable with the Lash Artist in mind.

I’ve learned so much along the way. I would say the most important is to be kind and generous… ALWAYS in ALL areas of life. Whomever you say you are to the world, be that, when nobody is looking.

This award that was given to the salon last year.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My best friend did come to town. what a great experience we had. We started at Inner Me Studio pole dancing class, visited Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart to confess our sins…jk we visited to observe this big, beautiful church with all its glorious imported material, stain glass, and beautiful statues. Sambuca’s for live music, featuring the ShapeShifters band. Then off to the Kemah Boardwalk celebrating my 50TH birthday party with 75 of my closest friends at Landry’s Seafood House.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to thank my husband for all his love, support and encouragement. There have been business owners that have mentored me in example and who have certified me in eyelash extensions. Thank you, Trish with Black Cat Lashes and thank you Frankie Widdows of Eyelash Excellence for your love of the industry and paving the way for this growing industry. My best lash friend Meagan at Key Lashes for being on this adventure together from the start. All the fun, laughter, mentoring, and friendship.
