We had the good fortune of connecting with Claudia Soroka and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Claudia, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
The reason I pursue an artistic or creative career is because the sky is the limit. There are no rules for creativity, you just follow your imagination. My career in Interior Design grows and recharges every day with new ideas. The possibility of choices and combination of colors and textures are countless. Everything is posible if the client feels comfortable and happy with my suggestions.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am a “solo” firm. Being my own boss has its pros and cons. I’m very tough with myself but at the same time I control my hours and select my projects.
My business it’s totally guided by my passion. I’m truly passionate about my work, I love what I do and I am relentless.
Since I started in 1989, I work by referrals. I carry around 12-15 different project a year. The challenge it’s not the number of projects, but making sure that my design concept is truly tailored to each client and not a cookie cutter since my clients can be neighbors or friends.
I do believe that if a client calls me is to give them a very personal and unique design. Saying that, I dedicate time to think about what that client needs to elevate the look in their home.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Houston offers so many great restaurants, outdoor areas, musical venues, theater, museums and sports.
I’ll start with The Museum of Fine Arts and The Glassell, followed by lunch at Le Jardenier. Spend the afternoon at Eastern Glades for a nice encounter with nature and finish the day at House of Blues for fun music.
Or going to 8th Wonder Brewrery for lunch before a baseball game at Minute Maid Park to enjoy the Astros!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family. My husband, Sergio Soroka, MD, encourage me to go back to school and became and Interior Designer as well as supporting me as an actress for almost 30 years. When I started both adventures our children were in elementary school and it was hard to balance motherhood and my I would say two careers. But thanks to a vary supportive family, I’m still pursuing both of my creative careers. My son Ryan and daughter Melina are rooting for me daily and I deeply appreciate that!
