We had the good fortune of connecting with Claudia Washington and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Claudia, what matters most to you?
The most important things to me are the quality of my work and the service I provide to my customers. These values are always top priority when I chose the materials I use for my jewelry line and how I make my customers feel when they customize their own pieces.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m always looking for inspiration to create new and original designs. I subscribe to blogs, magazines and newsletters to stay up to date on current and emerging fashion trends. I do a lot of networking with like minded artists, and a few times a month I am a vendor at farmers markets in the surrounding Houston area.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There are so many restaurants and places to visit in Houston. As someone who loves fashion and art, the first place I would go to would be the museum of fine art. From there, I would have lunch and wine tasting at Sable Gate winery, located in Midtown. For my friends who like dancing, Barbarella is the place! The dance floor is small and intimate. Everyone there is cool or weird, old and young. The music will take you back to glorious days of MTV, and the tv screens all around the dance floor will transport you back to another decade.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The most important people in my life who I can constantly count on for their support are my husband – Germaine, my kids -Bryce and Zoe and my best friend, Daniel. Their love and encouragement carries me through this journey and I am thankful for their every piece of advice and support.
