We had the good fortune of connecting with Claudine Texada and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Claudine, how do you think about risk?
When I think about risk, I try to concentrate more on the result rather than the risk. I have taken every risk possible when I created Beautifully Thrifted and started my journey as a blogger. I created this space to inspire women to value their coins while looking and feeling fabulous at the same time. The thing about risk is that they must be taken. I always say that your greatest blessings are just beyond your comfort zone. We have to risk being uncomfortable to facilitate growth and forward movement. This journey is both frightening and exciting. However, pushing past the fear and taking the risk creates confidence and resilience. In my life taking risks has allowed me to learn many valuable life lessons. No matter the outcome of the risk there is a lesson, and lessons promote overall growth.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am in the process of creating and building my personal brand as a lifestyle & thrift blogger. This journey has not been easy yet very fulfilling. I overcame challenges by taking risks and stepping out on faith. Additionally, I sought out to educate myself as much as possible in an effort to build a solid foundation. I learned the following things along the way:
1. My journey is my own. It is unique and it is okay that it does not look like anyone else’s journey.
2. Celebrate your wins. There is no such thing as a “small win”. Every goal accomplished deserves to be celebrated as it only means you are one step closer.
3. Do not be afraid to ask for help. For years, I was the person that didn’t want to ask for help. That got me absolutely nowhere.
Do what makes you happy. If there is something that you’ve been wanting to do or start…do it.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Breakfast: The Breakfast Klub (black owned restaurant with the best breakfast in town).
Thrifting: We would visit a few of my favorite thrift stores –
Value Village (705 W. 23rd Street Houston TX 77008)
The Second Shop (3401 Harrisburg, Suite F Houston, TX, 77003)
Salvation Army (1603 Mcgowen St. Houston, TX 77004)
Happy Hour: McIntyre’s Downtown Houston, Moonshine Deck, Pappasitos Cantina
Outdoor Attractions: Hermann Park, Discovery Green
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my Shoutout to my Husband Corrie for always believing in me, and my Mentor Courtney for providing me with the necessary tools I needed to propel my blog and personal brand forward.
