We had the good fortune of connecting with Crystal Vaughn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Crystal, how do you think about risk?
I call risk “faith.” The role it has taken in my life has served me very well. Without it, I wouldn’t be where I am today.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I love being a professional photographer! I have always had a creative side and I really get to utilize it through my business. There is nothing greater than living in your purpose, using what talents come natural to you and getting paid for it! To me, it’s totally not all about the money though. I get joy from creating images and heirlooms that will be passed down from generation to generation. People can look back at these family photos and have wonderful memories of their loved ones. As these heirlooms are passed down, the younger generations can connect with their family tree and see where they get their looks and personalities from. You may ask, “how can you tell someone’s personality just by looking at a photo” but I take more of a lifestyle approach to catch real life interaction so personalities shine through. I believe this is what sets me apart.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I definitely would take them downtown! I live in Houston Tx. and it’s such a big city and so much to do, a week wouldn’t be long enough, lol. Although there are lot’s of great restaurants, a couple of my favorite’s are Brenner’s on the Bayou and Pinkerton’s BBQ. I mean how can you come to Texas and not have BBQ?! Locations: we would visit the underground tunnel downtown. This is like a whole other city! There’s lots of shops, restaurant’s and it even has a big mall! Discovery Green is a beautiful 12-acre park that is located directly by the George R. Brown Convention Center. We could also visit the Houston Museum of Natural Science and enjoy a live performance at the Houston Grand Opera.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This list could be so long! I will start with my family….without their support I couldn’t do what I do. My husband is the backbone and is the most supportive person I know. Next would be my church…they are literally like family. I also have a praying mom’s group that I adore. All of these people make my world go ’round and keep me sane. They are there no matter what. And of course, all of my precious clients! My business flourishes because of them and I appreciate and value every single one.
