We had the good fortune of connecting with Daemaine Hines and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Daemaine, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Well for me I have both! I work in “Industrial Packaging” as a Process Technician, as well as being a professional photographer. I like the duality of having the two; which keeps me inspired in each field. I get to push the boundaries in both of the jobs, and in a way I see them no different than the other. It is all beautiful work in the end.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a street, urban, and portrait photographer based in the Houston, Texas area. I specialized in the more gritty side of photography while capturing architecture and symmetry when I compose images. What sets me apart from others is how I see and make photographs. It is my eye for moments capturing living subjects as well as inanimate objects in a unique way.

It was not easy, because to be a great photographer you have to work the muscle. Meaning you have to put in the work day in and day out to get a fraction of the results that you want.

The way I have been able to overcome the challenges is by consistently learning and creating. I have learned to create for myself and be happy with the results no matter what.

I want the world to know that if a kid from a small town in Georgia can have somewhat of an influence through his creativity on people so can you.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to the Museum Fine Arts Houston, Rockets or Astros game. I would take them to Rice Box, Torchy’s, Velvet Taco, or the Breakfast Klub. Walk around downtown and go to Discovery Green typical tourist stuff. I would take my parents to get some Ramen or Pho because they’ve never had it lol!

Houston is so diverse I would probably take them to a new spot that I get to experience for the first time myself.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
When it comes to my creative career, I have to give a proper shoutout to my beautiful wife and son for inspiring me everyday to go out there and create. Secondly, I want to thank Emike for mentioning me to AB and her reaching out to do this! Thirdly my parents and in-laws(second parents) for supporting me throughout the years. They are the pillars and foundation that helps us get through the hard times. I want to thank all of my the creative artist in Houston who I have crossed paths with and worked with throughout the years. My story isn’t written without them all in it!
