We had the good fortune of connecting with Da’juan Dupri and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Da’juan, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
The single most important decision I made that would directly contribute to my success was coming back to the laws and commands of YAHUAH.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a HipHop & R&B artist and event curator in Tulsa Oklahoma, I make music for the ear sensitive to the Spirit- a mouth piece of EL ELYON unto the set apart in these days. I’m excited and honored to see YAHUAH prosper my steps and establish my leadership in the earth. It’s been a long road almost a decade since I recorded some of my first work though it seemed to come easy it was indeed a challenge crafting! I overcame every obstacle by staying true to the heritage and promise given to my Fathers, “No weapon formed against you shall prosper and every tongue that speaks against you shall be proven Wrong in judgment” I learned and witness that be true in my Life in every lesson!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First Sunday we stopping at ‘Lerouxs kitchen’ in Mother Road Market to get that honey jalapeño chicken basket ! Period point blank.
Then we gone spin the block a few times on Greenwood and pop up on Kode Ransom at ‘Black Wall Street Liquid Lounge’ and get that delicious white chocolate mocha (dupri special). Once we enjoy all the rich history Kode Ransom has on Black Wall Street.
Monday, we will wake up around 9:30 am to prepare for the most competitive hoop session in your life. ‘Hoop dads’ at lacy park in North Tulsa a non profit org. Created by Lester Shaw II for older adults who still got a pretty jumpshot but don’t wanna pull a muscle! (Me) Haha!
After that we are making a trip back east of Tulsa that evening to check out the festivities and live jam session at the ‘Community ArtHome’. Live music, free art supplies, coffee & tea plus more literally the house party you wish you always had. Free to the community- very refreshing.
We would relax the next day in rest for ‘MidWeek FIYAH’ at Lil Brown’s where I throw showcases and various events for growing artist and creatives alike.
When the weekend hits you can always count on ‘the underground collective’ to have the vibes and events lined up for all your weekend entertainment itches!
Tulsa has really became a hub a Mecca for culture in the south/Midwest
Some very creative people and thinkers I have the honor to be around very heavily in the community is the soul starz(a collective of 9 artist) and also various Fire in Little Africa artist such as Bezel 365, Shyheim Nwadiei and also the genius Landon Wolf.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Big love and S/O to my big brother YAHUSHA, what He did for me and my people really propelled me to continue In the walk of this success I’ve been able to achieve.
