We had the good fortune of connecting with Daniel Langlois and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Daniel, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The thought process behind starting my business was similar to many others: I wanted to have time and financial freedom. However, I quickly learned that is not how things start out in business. At first, you’re definitely sowing many hours and reaping little financial benefit! The idea of being a business owner has always been attractive to me though. As the first entrepreneur in my family, I’ve faced some push back on starting my own business. Of course, the criticism I was given always meant well… the goal was to protect me from failure! It’s a noble thing, but I had to follow my gut instinct. Once beginning in my industry, I wanted to establish my own brand. I pondered on the following question: “What message do I want to send to the world?” Through this question, I founded Redeemed Payments & Services. I want to send the message of redemption to the world. What is redemption though? Well, it is a transactional and theological term. My strong faith in Christ has led to me personally being redeemed from the woes of this world. I used to struggle with intense anxiety and depression, but through faith, I was delivered. Not only that, Christ redeemed my soul by purchasing it through His work on the cross. He paid for my sins and redeemed me from darkness into light. This is what I want others that I interact with to know, that Christ can redeem them also! And through business, I can share this message with other people. On the business side of the term “redemption,” it means to purchase something. Dealing with credit card payments is what my business is all about. So whether redeeming an item at the store, or having a conversation about your personal redemption, I am here to help.

What should our readers know about your business?
Redeemed Payments & Services is founded upon the principle of redemption. We believe that all business transactions are important to those involved in them. Whether it is the merchant receiving payment for their goods or services in a secure manner, or it is the consumer paying for their goods & services with the hope of enjoying them – we know that having a partner you can confidently rely on is utmost important. At Redeemed Payments & Services we believe in diving deep with our merchants to understand the complexity or simplicity of their processing environment and needs. We work as consultants to understand the problems, empathize with those experiencing the problems, and are dedicated to finding intuitive solutions that can cover all of the bases for the business. We do this by keeping in mind what the business owner needs, but also what the customer experience is on the front end. We believe in honesty, transparency, and integrity. Redeemed Payments & Services did not get to where we are today without our share of problems, failure, and obstacles. So we understand what it’s like when things aren’t working out in your favor, and how it can be frustrating. This is what gives us a deep understanding of our clients. I want the world to know that Redeemed Payments & Services is committed to the highest level of professionalism in the industry, while maintaining our commitment to faithfully serving and stewarding the resources entrusted to us.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well, if it was during the crawfish season, I would most definitely take my friend to the Crawfish Shack in Crosby, TX. This place has some seriously great crawfish and seafood, but it is only open seasonally so it really is a gem to enjoy for a limited time! Another place I would take a friend to would be the Julia Ideson Library building. The building is packed full of history and charm. Next, we would explore the museum district of Houston. We are truly blessed in our city to have so many great museums in our city! The history of natural sciences and fine arts are places that we must visit! Another place that I would take my friend, which I’ve yet to visit myself actually, is the Lanier Theological library. As someone who is deeply interested in theology, I could surely spend hours there. Of course, I would also have to take my friend to the Space Center.

There are so many great spots in Houston to visit. I really encourage people traveling abroad to consider Houston as a destination to stop by and enjoy.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I believe God deserves all the glory and credit for any success that I’ve experienced. He has put people in my life, opportunities in my path, and visions in my mind to launch my business. I firmly believe that God uses us all in some way to accomplish His purposes. One group I would like to recognize is the BNI Elite Networkers. This is a group that I’ve been a part of for a few years and I’ve had the privilege of holding many leadership roles with the group, as well as being under the steady leadership of others. I’ve received many great client referrals from my tenure in the group, and have also passed great referrals to others. The foundation of this group is built on the principle of Givers Gain. When I help others, they are more likely to help me out. It’s more about giving than receiving. In business, and in life, this is a good principle to live by.
