We had the good fortune of connecting with Danna Casanova and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Danna, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risks have to be taken, they are part of life. We get so comfortable daily talking to the same people, doing the same things and hanging out in the same places that we don’t recognize this a damaging way of life. I make it a habit to put myself constantly out of my comfort zone, therefore normalizing risk taking. If you don’t take risks you will never grown and acquire success!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I believe what sets me apart from other hat designers is the detail that my hats possess. I believe in fashion and luxury and my hats reflect that. Something that makes me very proud is that I designed a permanent hat exhibit that is displayed at the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame. I got to where I am today by literally working a lot and it hasn’t been easy. When most people are sleeping or partying, I am working. Sun up to sun down I work very hard. I am always planning my next 2 moves, I focus on the future and that’s how I overcome challenges by being positive. I would like the world to know that each hat that I design and that’s out there on a cowgirls head was designed with passion and love. Also that success is not easy to acquire, if anybody wants to be successful in their field they have to be disciplined and sacrifice lots of time working instead of partying.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Definitely to eat brunch to Tout Suit, then watch an Astros game at the Minute Maid Park. I would certainly take my friend to take a bike ride by the Galveston sea wall and to the NASA. Also to Kemah to have dinner at the Aquarium or the Hilton Spindle Top.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wanna dedicate my shoutout to little girls with big dreams that become women with goals. That is what pushes me to become better at what I do and hopefully be a positive role model for at least one. My daughter has been my biggest inspiration and a big reason for my success.
