Meet Darcie Martinez

We had the good fortune of connecting with Darcie Martinez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Darcie, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
What’s one thing about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
One of the biggest misconceptions in the health and fitness industry is that fat loss is just about calories in vs. calories out. The truth is, our bodies are far more complex. Nutrition isn’t just about shrinking your body, it’s about hormones, gut health, emotional regulation, metabolism, and building systems that actually support your life.
Most people don’t realize how much the modern food system is working against them. I’ve made it my mission to teach clients how to take back control, through education, structure, and honest conversation. I don’t just hand someone a meal plan or workout program. I teach them why their body responds the way it does, what foods serve them best, and how to create lasting change from the inside out.
My approach is rooted in science and strategy, but also in empathy. Because transformation isn’t just physical, it’s mental, emotional, and deeply personal.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a Women’s Fitness & Nutrition Coach, specializing in accountability and metabolic health. I work with women who are ready to take back control of their health, physically, mentally, and emotionally. What sets me apart is that I don’t just hand out cookie-cutter plans. I walk alongside my clients with structure, education, and real-life strategy. My programs are built around fat loss, gut health, hormonal balance, and sustainable routines. This isn’t about quick fixes, it’s about building a body and a mindset that can carry you for a lifetime.
I’m most proud of the transformation I’ve undergone to get here. I wasn’t always this version of myself. In 2014, I was going through a brutal divorce, newly single with four boys, 115 lbs, barely eating, and just starting Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I had no idea what the future would hold. I walked away from a business I built with my ex-husband and had to start over with nothing but grit, discipline, and belief that I could create something better.
It hasn’t been easy. There were years of survival mode. I’ve cried, failed, and questioned my path more times than I can count. But each challenge forced me to level up, mentally, emotionally, and professionally. The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that consistency beats perfection. If you keep showing up and doing the work, life opens up.
What I want the world to know is that I don’t do this just for aesthetics. I coach women because I know how hard it is to put yourself last, to feel lost in motherhood or burned out by work, and to want something more. I’ve been there. And I built SIS Fitness & Health to be a place where women can find their strength again, through education, nutrition, and accountability.
This is more than a business. It’s my mission. And I’m just getting started.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting, I’d make sure they experienced a week full of movement, nourishment, and connection, everything I value most.
We’d start the day with a solid breakfast packed with 30–50g of protein and complex carbs, then take a walk to the gym for a powerful training session. After that, we’d head to the pool with a protein shake to relax and recover.
Lunch would be homemade, fresh, flavorful, and nutrient-dense. In the afternoon, we’d get mani/pedis and enjoy a walk around the lake at Hughes Landing, soaking in the scenery and good conversation.
For dinner, we’d head to Del Frisco’s or The Good Company, some of my favorite local spots, for a delicious meal and good vibes. Then we’d check out some local live music, dance, laugh, and enjoy the moment.
At some point, we’d hit a jiu jitsu class together, because of course, and close out the day with a few rounds of Uno while catching up on life.
Balance, fun, and good energy. That’s how we do it!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Without question, my mother deserves the first and loudest shoutout.
She has always been there for my children while I worked to build something from the ground up. Her unwavering support gave me the freedom to grow into a businesswoman, to make mistakes, to learn, and to keep going. I wouldn’t have been able to chase my dreams the way I have without knowing she was holding it down at home.
My first Brazilian Jiu Jitsu professor also played a huge role during one of the most difficult seasons of my life. He created a safe, structured space when I needed it most, holding my baby while teaching class so I could train. That discipline and care planted a seed that’s grown into everything I do now.
I also have deep gratitude for my first fitness mentor, who opened the door to the world of celebrity fitness. That opportunity led me to work with Teresa and Gia Giudice from The Real Housewives of New Jersey, as well as Tamra and Eddie Judge. Those platforms helped me reach hundreds of women, sharing real-life tools for strength, health, and self-trust.
And lastly, to the friend who offered me my first remote job, it allowed me to provide for my family while staying present. That one decision gave me the opportunity to develop my own business, serving women in a way that’s aligned with my passion and purpose.
