We had the good fortune of connecting with Shyann White and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shyann, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
My name is Shyann and for years I was always inspired by fashion. As a young college kid I would board the bus and visualize myself selling women clothing. Stores such as Fashion nova ,forever 21, and Zara inspired me the most. I always whispered to myself “I can do that” and dreamed of having my own store. I then decided to name my business after my sister because intuitively that’s the name that was suitable. I’ve tried other names but Sade’s collection is the one that sticks. Over the past few years I only dreamed of starting my own business until the year of 2019, I decided to make it my reality.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Our goal at Sade’s Collection is to ensure that women feels confident in her apparel. A wise man once said “when you look good, you feel good ,and when you feel good you do good” , that’s what we like to channel at Sade’s Collection. I want the world to know that my brand is for the every day woman with a splash of boldness, meaning we have styles that are comfy and causal and also styles that are fashionable. As we continue our journey one thing for certain we must learn and that’s being consistent. Some days are tough and the unknown is fearful but we must continue with our dream.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First we’d start off with brunch and head over to taste bar ,omg the food is so delicious. Since we both like crawfish we would then hit up Kray Cray Cajun House they crawfish reminds me of Louisiana styled seafood. Lastly I’ll take her to seismique Museum which will be both of our first time there but I heard great reviews about them.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to family and friends. They’re very supportive of my business and that’s very dope. I don’t think they know how much they’ve help me continue on with my business, especially on the days I feel like giving up. They’re like my personal angels because half of the time they don’t know when I’m feeling down, but somehow they always have the best encouraging words at the right time. Running a business definitely requires you to have a solid team or support system because doing everything alone can be very challenging and overwhelming. So I dedicate this to family and friends thank you all for always having my best interest.
