We had the good fortune of connecting with Darius Hester and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Darius, how do you think about risk?
No one gets anywhere by not taking a risk. The biggest risk you can take is not taking one at all. We all take risk everyday from the moment we wake up, consciously or unconsciously. I took a risk in leaving a desk job to start my own company and it was the best decision I could have made.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Here at ‘The Human Collective LLC’ we specialize in Residential/Commercial Contracting through ‘D’s Handyman Services’. If you need anything In your home repaired or a restaurant that’s who to call. We also specialize in photography, 3d printing, personal training, meal prep, personal chefs, wholesale, house keeping and pressure washing. It’s not easy handling all of these task. That is why we are called the collective, a group of people with specialized skills that can handle all of these tasks together with no effort. Finding these specific individuals takes time and many failures. Some pieces look like they may fit and they barely miss the mark. That mark may be miniscule or it could be major. The only way to know if it’s truly a fit is to find out. That is what it takes to run a business, finding the pieces that fit the puzzle. And that’s what we like to do here at ‘The Human Collective LLC’, fill in the missing pieces for the people. No matter what you need we will succeed.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would cook at home majority of the time and let them devour new meal prep dishes along with some BBQ from the pit. If we wanted to go eat I know a few secret taco locations that I cannot disclose. If we were in the mood for Jamaican food I would go to Cool Runnings. I think their jerk chicken can compete with mines. When the weekend arrives, we’d probably take a trip to Galveston and rent a beach house and throw a party all weekend.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are a many people that deserve credit to the foundation that has been set through the last quarter century, it would be impossible to name them all. They know who they are and I would like to say thank you. A special credit to Mr. Proctor, Mrs. Hicks, Mr. Hill, and Mr. Carnegie for lending their extensive knowledge.
