We had the good fortune of connecting with Daryn Armstrong and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Daryn, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I have always been very artistic! I grew up drawing and sketching constantly. As i got i older it was the one thing i always stuck with. I continued to learn and get better every day, knowing art is the one thing i truly have a passion for.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As I’ve progressed through my artistic journey i always struggle to find a particular style. I love many styles and tend to combine them in my work. I am also a very versatile artist, i draw, paint, sculpt, animate, photograph, tattoo, and pretty much any artistic outlet i can find! I used my combination of multiple styles and art forms to decide to pursue tattooing as a career. I have a lot of tattoos myself and always loved everything about it! I went to Sam Houston for 4.5 years to get my BFA, so i went through extensive art training. I then applied my training to learning everything about how to tattoo and found it came very easy to me! I love everything about it and will continue to learn and grow everyday!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in Uptown Houston, which is full of a variety of different things to do! The museum district is great, there’s so many different exhibits and types of art to see. We also have a food truck park! It has several different food trucks with something for everyone! The food trucks are especially great considering they’re right down the street from the galleria. The galleria Houston is a great mall and always worth a visit!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My Husband is my biggest fan and my greatest supporter! He is always there through the long nights and has been rooting for me the whole way!
