We had the good fortune of connecting with David Hooey and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi David, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk has always been one of my fears, but has truly taught me that it is ok to push the envelope and take a leap of faith. Being able to embrace fear and retrain my mind to know that “without risk there is no reward”. I am a dreamer and believe that I can and will accomplish so much in my lifetime, but how can I truly get there if I’m unable to take the risk? The role risk has played out in my life is knowing that with proper preparation and due diligence you can do more than you ever set your mind out to do and get out of your own way. Without taking that first step I wouldn’t be married to my beautiful wife Kayla Hooey, I wouldn’t be working in my career, wouldn’t have gone to Prairie View A&M University and graduate with my B.S. in Electrical Engineering, and I wouldn’t also be a Real Estate Agent in Houston, TX. My life has flourished in all areas when I take risk and walk by faith.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Being a full time employee as well as a Real Estate Agent has put me in my zone and has allowed for me to grow in more ways than I could ever imagine. The imencied amount of organization, communication, time management, relationship building is key for me to be successful. My drive and work ethic set me apart from others in the industry because i’m able to prioritize my time and give my clients the necessary attention that they deserve. I am most excited to be stepping into this journey of real estate because of the impact that i can have on my clients and the industry. Buying a home sounds intimidating however when your paired with a Realtor who knows the lay of the land i take the edge off and provide peace of mind. Professionally i’ve been able to get to where i’m at by not being comfortable where i may be in life, I definitely celebrate all wins but that is not the end for me, there is always more goals to be accomplished. The journey here was not easy, there have been failures, doubt, lessons, and hurdles but for me it’s not about what happens to you its how you respond to the adversity that matters. My mindset on life it to value your that life isn’t promised to anyone so love them today, forgive, don’t stress over things that aren’t in your control. if you know me then you know i never meet a stranger and my heart is full of love, joy, and excitement.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First thing first let’s EAT! first stop is Turkey Leg Hut, save your appetite and prepare your mind to be blown away. Next stop we are going to play some games and drink at Cidercade Houston, imagine drinking and playing some of the most memorable games from your childhood and maybe even your parents childhood. Games paired with their cider is a WIN. One of my favorite things to do is to take my friends to the shooting range and give them an experience that they will never forget shooting some of the most iconic firearms from movies and games. Lastly on our tour de Houston we have to hit downtown to see the skyline at the Post mall and enjoy a bite to eat in the food court.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost I’d like to thank God because without him I wouldn’t be here. I’d also like to shoutout my wife Kayla Hooey who has been a driving force in the development of my life in all aspects as all great wives do. I would also like to set up my big brother Andrew Hooey and big sister Kiki Hooey for planting the seed of real estate, passive income, and generational wealth in my mind and giving me the resources to pursue my dreams.
