Meet Davion Lewis | Chef/Caterer/Owner of TCK Table

We had the good fortune of connecting with Davion Lewis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Davion, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
The concept behind The Counselor’s Kitchen came in a dream. In 2012 my mother started the “Maybell’s Catering Company” and working along side of her set a foundation for me to walk in my own gift and purpose in such a divine way. She passed away in 2018, and because of grief and other personal life circumstances I have made the decision to walk away from continuing the catering company and soon after that decision I had a dream and in this dream I was given a new name and concept for the company and with a newfound purpose and a previous ignited passion for cooking, I moved forward with continuing the company with a fresh anointing. That is where The Counselor’s Kitchen originated. And the mission is “where food is therapy and the kitchen table is safety.” This stems from my genuine belief that food effects us not just physically, but also mentally and emotionally as well. Cuisines and their nutritional values transcends in every area of our lives and can alter the way we think, feel, and even rationalize. So a key component, once we make better food choices, is to also sit at the kitchen table that it can become a safe haven and nucleolus in our homes. If we ever just connected with a simpler time where bills and books were balanced, family time was spent, difficult conversations were had, days were reviewed, and life was planned ALL at the kitchen table! So my mission as a company is to not only provide great tasting food that’s therapeutic in nature, but to also actively encourage families to make the kitchen table a place of safety in their homes again!


Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Here at TCK We specialize in custom meal preps including low carb, plant based, vegan, vegetarian, and keto. We also have a spice line which includes: Instant Gumbo Roux; Better Than Good Burger Spice(All Purpose Seasoning); Anything Goes BBQ Rub; Peachy Keen Pork Spice; and a brand new feature, Heaven Sent Wing Seasoning. So what makes The Counselor’s Kitchen so unique, is that we not only feed the stomach, but we feed the heart, mind, and soul as well! There’s a dichotomy to the company! Catering, cooking, private chef events, and spices is what we do to serve your physical needs, but we also have a podcast that’s produced to be a blessing to your soul as well. The TCK Table Podcast is designed with you in mind. I believe everyone has a story to tell, and what better way to tell that story than with comfort food. It wasn’t easy by any means but my genuine concern was wholistic in nature. I always approach my clients with this question, “How can I best serve you?” because it’s what I look forward to most! Cooking is my passion, but serving is my purpose., but serving is my purpose. I don’t just desire to feed people I desire to nourish them as well. Sometimes having such a genuine heart for people, it can be hard to balance your purpose and your profit. I’ve subscribed to the understanding that my passion and my purpose being cooking and serving are all a part of my Zone of Excellence, However business is not,. Although it sounds cliché, being willing to build healthy relationships with people who can produce in excellence the things you cannot is the key to building a business that is fulfilled. I’ve had to learn and accept that some things I just don’t have figured out, but others might, and there’s no shame or crime in connecting with others to build your desired outcome in business.
