We had the good fortune of connecting with DaiTrell Ingram and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi DaiTrell, how do you think about risk?
I say, “If you’re not willing to take a risk, you’re not willing to live.” A lot of experiences have come from taking risks. Its a sure way of becoming better, and creating something new if you will. We take risks daily, by traveling, eating and so many other things, why not take a risk at something you love!?

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Authenticity is what I would say keeps me separate from a lot of people… As it should. Those moments you just dare to be yourself, even when you’re scared! And I think that is what continues to get me to where I am, and where I’m going. Recently I’ve become a resident artist; One at the House of Blues, and another I’ve been on this month (March) at City Cellars, HTX. I moved to Houston declaring major doors being opened for me; and with dedication and hard work, I’ve truly been blessed with many opportunities – not only for myself, but being able to create them for others as well, and that makes me really happy! #TheJourney hasn’t always been easy, and there have been several moments I’ve thought, “You know what? I’m going to throw in the towel and let it all go!” But with my #DaiLights, I’ve been able to get through it all. The lessons, I’ve learned is that no matter what, keep going – take a break and regroup if you need to, but keep going!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, I’m always down for a good drink. So, we’d probably start the fun off with two of my new favorite Drinks at City Cellars, HTX. one is called the Houston 75 and the other is the Bayou City Sunset – they’re refreshing and wonderful. and the vibes there are great! Secondly, anyone who knows me, knows I like nature, so we’d definitely take a lap or two around Hermann Park or Buffalo Bayou. For a night out, We’d most likely stop by Pour Behavior for more drinks and food – they have the most amazing truffle fries! Other than that, I love to spend time with friends, talking, watching movies and being at home LOL! The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My Shoutout goes to my #DaiLights! And thats everyone that I’m rocking with and who’s rocking with me. My family, friends, supporters, everybody! Though, I’ve done a lot “on my own” I know that I wouldnt have been able to truly stand without those who have supported me.

Something, that I can explain, I call my supporters #DaiLights… Years ago, I had to piece together a meaning for my name (DaiTrell is uncommon) and with Dai/Day being like the light and Trell/Trail being a path. In tears, uncovering the purpose and meaning for my name, “The Path of Light”. Therefore, anyone who supports me, or comes in contact with me is a #DaiLight. We have a light within us that should shine in this world!
