We had the good fortune of connecting with Dayane Vail and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dayane, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My lovely job started out as a hobby since I was really unhappy with the jobs I was working. I quit those jobs at the moment I felt like this hobby could turn into my dream job. Everything happened very fast after one of my TikTok’s went viral last year, and I sold out all of my inventory in less than 24 hours. It was a breaking point for my business since everything leading to that point was so slow and discouraging that I was even considering going back to a job I hated.
It went from taking baby steps to full-on running a small business in a matter of weeks it was a crazy time. This whole wonderful support of so many unknown people lead me to great opportunities.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Flowers changed my life completely and before I started my business I didn’t care too much about them, funny how things change. Through nature, I started creating botanical jewelry that empowered not only me but everyone that saw or supported my business. I found my voice, my passion, and how I wanted to spend most of my time.
And from my heart, I created collections that reflected the real beauty of nature, like the Plant Lady Collection is one of my favorites since I can explore the delicate, beautiful, inspiring, strong side of women and all of their shapes.
The meaning behind the name Ammil is a term for the thin film of ice that lays in all leaves, twigs, and grass when a freeze follows a partial thaw, and that in sunlight can cause a whole landscape to glitter. And that is exactly what I think of my business, that everyone has the potential to shine.
Having a small business that is constantly changing is extremely rewarding and frustrating at the same time, being a one-person owned business means I have to fulfill every role, from creator to marketer to solving any problems that pop up. I think the most challenging side of my business is that everything relies on social media which can be mentally draining, but it’s the price I pay for loving what I do.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, that is easy since I live in the little pocket of joy in Houston called Kemah, which has everything for a fun time other than traffic lol, including the beautiful boardwalk right on the water, great restaurants, there is a cute little hidden beach that is a must go. And Galveston is also right around the corner bringing so many forms of entertainment like it’s rich history, beach, mini-golf, and nightlife.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I couldn’t agree more! My business and where I am at today it’s all thanks to so many wonderful people that supported me. My husband was the first to take a leap of faith and let me explore my creative side which I will forever be grateful. I was also blessed to have received so much love from social media Instagram and Tiktok, because it’s all a matter of putting yourself out there so people can see you/your business.
Two author’s that I would recommend reading/listening are Rhonda Byrne, who wrote The secret (an incredible life-changing book), also Dr. Wayne Dyer who wrote so many books about finding the true happiness behind the things you love doing.
