We had the good fortune of connecting with DeAnn McAdoo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi DeAnn, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I decided to step back into the professional world after the chapter of raising my children came to an end. One of my greatest accomplishments is being a mom. This led me to stay home with them and raise them instead of continuing in my Real Estate career over 11 years ago. It was the best decision for our family and I cherish that time with them. Now, that my kids are 20 and 17 it’s time to return to what I love, Helping people find the place they will call HOME. Home means so much to me and it’s the most beautiful blessing to be apart of that process.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am a Real Estate Agent with Better Homes and Gardens Gary Greene out of the Katy office. My job is to help people find or sell their home. I believe the thing that sets me apart from other agents is my desire to educate and advocate for my clients. The Real Estate process can be very overwhelming and its my job to ease the stress and provide advice to help the client narrow down or make a well informed decision.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Saturday-We would hit the Houston Museum of Natural Science . My favorite part in the museum is the Cockrell Butterfly Center. After our adventures in the museum we would hit up Bollo Wood Fire Pizza and for dessert the Chocolate Bar! Sunday- We would attend church service at Kingsland Baptist in Katy and then off to brunch at Union Kitchen in Katy. A later afternoon walk at Willow Fork Park. We would order take out for dinner from Ashiana Indian Restaurant in Houston. They have the best Chicken Tikka Masala! Monday- we would catch dinner and a movie at the IPIC theater in Houston Tuesday- Coffee at Black Rock Coffee bar and some shopping at LaCenterra in Katy. Mani/ Pedi at my favorite nail salon Bali Nails in Katy. The owners are wonderful Wednesday- Food Trucking, music, and wine drinking for ladies night at ErmaRose Winery in Katy. Thursday- Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier to ride some rides and see the water. Friday- I would drag my out of town friend around to look at model homes to convince her she should move here! We would then finish up having dinner and listening to live music at The Oaks Kitchen and Bar in Cane Island.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband He is my biggest supporter and best friend. When you take a long hiatus from the professional world jumping back in can be scary and overwhelming. I know my industry well but when you have been out of the loop for so long that can play tricks on your confidence. He is always there when I need a little extra encouragement on a difficult day. He helps to remind me of my strengths and my past successes.
