We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Ashlei Evans and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Ashlei, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success is God, having an understanding of his will for my life, and choosing to have faith and obey him beyond what I do or do not see happening. I recognize that without him The Ash Exchange International LLC would not exist. It takes me knowing God to have the wisdom, knowledge, and understanding needed to be a vessel that helps bring awareness of God’s love and beauty in Christian women and educational institutions. It is God who embraces, educates, and empowers me so that I can do the same for others.
What should our readers know about your business?
The Ash Exchange International LLC started in 2016 under the name of The Ash Exchange. I initially only used it as a blog, but I soon came to learn that it would grow to become so much more than a blog. The vision for The Ash Exchange International is to illuminate Christ within broken-hearted, lost, and hopeless individuals and educational systems by embracing, educating, and empowering women, youth, children, and educators in Africa and the African diaspora to exchange God’s beauty for their ashes and walk boldly in the calling God has for their life. This organization is dedicated to developing, equipping, and empowering individuals and institutions (i.e., schools and orphanages) in Africa and the African diaspora through Christ-centered content and services. The Ash Exchange International provides inspirational Christian content such as books, planning and development resources, and words of encouragement. I offer Christian Spiritual and Interpersonal Leadership Coaching which is geared towards partnering with clients to conquer their goals related to Spiritual Growth, Identity, Purpose, Spiritual Gifts, Relationships, Cultural Competence, and Leadership. The Ash Exchange International also invests in establishing, restructuring, and maintaining Christian schools and orphanages as an Educational Consultant with an emphasis on School Operations & Management, Curriculum & Instruction, Instructional Coaching, Professional Development, Leadership, Cultural Competence, Relationships, Communication, and Christian Education. The Ash Exchange International LLC values community and collaboration; therefore, I partner with other Christian organizations and individuals to provide conferences and workshops that allow participants to gain wisdom and insight based on biblical principles that can be applied in a practical manner. Establishing this business has not been easy and I’ve made a lot of mistakes, but with every mistake, I’ve gained much knowledge that has helped me to move more strategically and wisely. I would say even creating this business was a challenge because there was much self-work that needed to take place before my mind was clear enough to understand the purpose of this business. Through intentional spiritual development and counsel, and therapy, I was able to heal from childhood trauma and hardships such as the loss of my parents, sexual abuse, and instability. Once I committed to my healing, I became committed to seeing the same freedom take place in the lives of others which helped me to focus and build this organization. Although there is still much to be done, I’m grateful for those who have been impacted so far.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well my best friends actually live in Houston, but if they weren’t here, we would eat at the following places, Snooze, an A.M. Eatery, Turkey Leg Hut, Soul Food Vegan, Catfish Station, and Cafe Abuja. We would explore various museums and historical sites. We would also take a drive down to Galveston and visit Kemah Boardwalk. We would of course visit my church, Time of Celebration Ministries Church.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to thank Time of Celebration Ministries Church & Redefined TV for consistently cultivating the word of God within me and allowing me to serve as an educational consultant for Time of Celebration Christian Academy and Singles Director for L.I.V.E. I would like to thank The Mending Peace for allowing me to partner with them to empower and make an impact in the lives of children who have been orphaned and/or oppressed. I’m grateful for my friends, mentors, and family members who have spoken life into me and invested in cultivating the gifts God has given me. Lastly, I would like to thank all the women, children, and educators who God has entrusted me to speak life into as a friend, coach, mentor, and consultant.
