We had the good fortune of connecting with DeCarmen Burleson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi DeCarmen, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
I feel that having a determined mind, along with a strong will helped me to succeed. I refused to give up, I never take No for an answer, and I remain faithful.
What should our readers know about your business?
I started out as a caterer, but have since expanded my services to better options for clients and to put me in a grid all alone. I offer coordinating and decor, and pride myself in joining forces with an artist and graphic designer, Vonola Joseph, to create a one stop shop for all events. We have even developed a networking event and host several seminars, school drives, adopt a family, and bring awareness to life events and illnesses. I am proud of myself because I will not allow anything to get in the way of achieving goals of my own, as well as, helping others achieve their dreams. Although getting where I am today and continuing to build is not easy, and can be challenging, I overcome with a strong will and determination. As I build my brand, I realize that not everyone is happy for you, you have to have faith and believe in yourself, and remain humble. The one thing I want the world to know about me and my brand is that we are here to bring their vision to light by any means necessary and will always put them first as a client. I pride myself in making each client special and important, it is my destine to satisfy them 100%.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Vonola “Trinidad” Joseph is someone I give credit to and is definitely deserved credit in my story. She has supported my vision since day one and continues to do so. Not only is she my wife, but is my biggest critic and supporter. Along with her, my dear friends, Skyy Thomas and Sharae Young, has always been supportive. They give me insight on how to improve my work and is always there for me when needed.
