Meet Dee Moore | Founder, Producer, Author & Designer/Stylist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dee Moore and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dee, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
Jesus never gave up on any of us, so why should I ? I have read numerous emails, text, website surveys, social media comments etc, etc, ; all from women who have or is going through what I’ve experienced in relationships, self esteem, and self confidence. The messages I receive from each are pretty much the same…. “You inspire me”, ” Thanks I needed this”, “Keep going sis”, “You motivate me.” As long as I can reach at least one individual and help to empower them, there is no need to give up.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Not only am I a stylist/designer and buyer at The Dorcas Collection By Dee Moore, I am also the founder of the “Fashionable And Thick Foundation.” A non profit organization created to advocate for women, men and children who are bullied because of size while educating the community on the affects of “FAT SHAMING”. I am also the author of “Life Support For The Curvy Female,” a self help book for plus size women. The fact that I don’t accept “no” for an answer sets me apart from others. When I’m told no, I look at as “not right now”. It may be something the man upstairs, feels I’m not ready to have at moment, or has better plans for me. I still have a long way to go with my business and the non-profit and the task are not easy at all. Lot’s of challenges especially financially, but the only way to overcome those challenges is to keep going, you never know who you may reach. Some lessons I have learned is EVERYONE IS NOT YOUR FRIEND, MOVE IN SILENCE and Pray your way through it all.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
To be honest, covid has things so messed up right now I’m not sure where to go and hang out. Also because of my work schedule, mommy duties, running a business and over seeing daily operations of the foundation, I barely have time to have time to hang out anywhere. I just returned from New York showcasing my designs….. I’m all work right now.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My Day One Supporters, through ups and downs they have never left my side. From selling t-shirts out the trunk of my car, to pop-up shops, to producing my own fashion shows to damn near loosing it all due to divorce.
