We had the good fortune of connecting with Delisa’e Malone and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Delisa’e, why did you pursue a creative career?
It gives me life! Helping other women look and feel their best self. Enhancing the beauty that’s already there. The Gemini woman is said to be pretty, witty, and one of the most creative signs of the zodiac which is myself. I’ve always been fascinated with beauty specifically, makeup it’s my passion. Being a self-taught makeup artist prompted me to go to cosmetology school allowing me to expand my knowledge and flourish. False eyelashes always stuck out to me they’re so extravagant the way they draw attention to your eyes. I want women to embrace femininity and feel the best versions of themselves glamorous, luxurious,confident, sexy and empowered.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
DK Minks is a Luxury Mink Eyelash Line. Cruelty Free we range from natural to 25mm lashes. We are an online based store. What sets us apart from others is we are not just selling a product! We are knowledgeable about eyelashes and we will apply your lashes on you right after your purchase! Our lashes are handmade with high quality mink hair and a cotton band which makes them lightweight and comfortable to wear. Our lashes are also sterilized and hypoallergenic and made with no added chemicals or dyes. DK Minks are suitable for contact wearers, or people with sensitive eyes. I am most excited about continuing my journey after having to adjust due to the pandemic. I got to where I am today by not quitting and truly having a love for beauty and helping other women feel the best version of themselves with DK Minks creating a product women love! I never let the pandemic stop me it was one of my biggest challenges I started my eyelash business in January of 2020 and I finally had some momentum in February of 2020 I had so much to look forward to everything was coming together it was the most exciting time in my life at the time I was a senior in high school. Then the pandemic hit in March and everything just stopped! Nobody was thinking about eyelashes it was hard. I dropped my prices and after the lockdown I switched things up I added a new collection and new faces. A lesson I learned along the way is some things are completely out of your control. And your not always gonna be motivated or inspired so be disciplined. DK Minks is all for inclusivity and we are a brand where ethics, expertise, and our environment are equal we guarantee the most sustainable cruelty free production process.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Day 1 For the best breakfast in Houston located in Midtown The Breakfast Klub you have to try the wings! Then take pictures in front of some of the murals and graffiti walls. Go to the Galleria for some retail therapy! Then check out night life in Houston go to a club or a hookah lounge or get dressed up to try more amazing food around the city. Day 2 spend the day at discovery green Day 3 try lotus seafood, the turkey leg hut, or krab queenz. Day 4 visit the heights eat great food velvet taco, etc. go to cool spots and take pictures Day 5 go to NASA or space center, zoo, or museum of fine arts, museum of natural science Day 6 ride bikes downtown at night Day 7 seaside lounge day party shop small businesses
