We had the good fortune of connecting with Diamond Capreé and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Diamond, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I’ve chosen an artistic career for myself, because it’s truly the best outlet for me. I’m a person who feels very much a loan at times, and art helps me express my emotions and feelings. It’s truly a form of therapy.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
There’s challenges every day with being an independent artist there’s never an easy day. I have to sell myself every day. I have to make sure I have content up every day. Make sure I am putting enough music out to feed the audience because now a days music is fleeting quicker. I love the challenge of it all. I’ve been doing it for a very long time. It’s not on me. It’s in me. I write my own records and I hope to write for others one day. Although sometimes I feel like I’m far away I have to remind myself I’m closer than I was before. I’m thankful for all the opportunities that have came my way. I’m thankful for the opportunities. I missed it made me work harder. The biggest lesson I’ve learned is just to never give up the easiest thing to do is to give up but when you keep pushing forward and you keep giving it, your all, God will surely open doors for you..

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
So since the rodeo is in Houston, I would definitely take them to the rodeo. There’s a lot of nice spots downtown I would take them to the Underground Hall. There’s so many things to do here in Houston. There’s concerts and festivals, parks so you’ll never get bored.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Honestly, the only other person who has help me on my journey is God. My spiritual connection to God is very strong it’s been us since day one. I don’t have a lot of supportive people around me so I need someone to call on and what better person to call on. I often wish I had a physical person to express what I’m going through but I don’t. I don’t make a big deal out of it. I just pray keep my eyes on the prize focus and have strong discipline. I thank God for waking me up every day, given how difficult my career is. He listens when I cry, when I’m happy, I truly just ask for guidance and everything that I do, so thank you God.
