We had the good fortune of connecting with Diana Gomez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Diana, how do you think about risk?
Building a business in real estate involves many risks and sacrifices such as family time, future income, and everything related to how the market evolves. You have to learn to identify opportunities in risky situations. creativity, perseverance, and your personal goals help you identify the path to success and reduce the risks, this way you can make decisions and commit to long-term purposes, all towards creating the life you want for yourself and your loved ones. You become braver, stronger, and more confident. In the end, you are investing your time and energy into something you love, and for me is real estate.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m a bilingual real estate advisor for Texas Living Company, serving the Houston and Dallas market. My journey did not begin as a real estate agent, before this, I served 19 years of my professional life as a project manager for entrepreneurial projects and food security programs for international development organizations like United Nations and the Swiss Foundation for Technical Cooperation. When my husband got offered a position in Houston, TX, I decided it was time to make a change in my career as well, and decided to follow my other passion inspired by my father, real estate. It was not an easy road, many things happened along the way: Harvey, COVID, and the most painful, my father, my inspiration passed away after a year and a half battling leukemia. Despite all this, I continued my journey to becoming a real estate agent, facing one of the biggest challenges of all, selling houses, and selling a lifestyle in a city unknown to me, but it didn’t stop me. I worked hard on getting to know the city and everything I needed to know to succeed. It’s been a learning process, and one of the best decisions I’ve ever made was to choose a great brokerage, this is fundamental for your success, and that is how I found Texas Living Company. My effort got me a nomination, and was a finalist for Rookie of the Year 2022 Houston Agents’ Choice Awards, by the end of 2022 I added Dallas-Fort Worth to the cities I serve. Finally, I love what I do because I love to help my clients, and I will go above and beyond for them.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Houston has so much to offer. You’ll need many trips if you love food as much as I do. If you want the best BBQ, visit Harlem Road Texas BBQ in Richmond, TX, If you want the best Texas-Asian fusion visit Blood Bros. BBQ in Bellaire, TX, If you’re looking for Thai, Rim Tanon is your best choice in Montrose. Best tacos, El Gato Food Truck on Westheimer and Tacos La Calle in Midtown. Katy Asian Town is a must. For drinks, my favorite places are Eight Row Flint in the Heights, Beers Looking at You in Webster, and Captain Foxheart’s Bad News in Downtown. Although, I always suggest to all visitors to (safely) make a Brewery tour, and also if you are a cigar aficionado you can enjoy a great atmosphere at Joseph’s Cigars & Coffee in Richmond, TX, or Stogies World Class Cigars on Westheimer, or Wilde Cigars in Burleson, TX. If you enjoy hikes and trails, don’t forget about all the national parks we have around.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First I want to thank my husband Alvaro, who has always believed in, encouraged, and supported me all the way, to my daughters Maria and Ana for being supportive and understanding when sacrifices were made. A huge thank you to Texas Living Company, my amazing broker Ronda Ross and Sarah Rose, the most creative marketing specialist for their constant support and motivation. But, I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for those I love to work for, my clients! Thank you to all my clients.
