We had the good fortune of connecting with Everett Jolivet IV and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Everett, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important lesson my business/ career has taught me is to be consistent. Without consistency, you will lack fulfilling your full potential. For example, my transition from obesity to losing weight and becoming a personal trainer/bodybuilder. I learned that consistently maintaining healthy eating habits and daily exercise helped change my physical appearance, and best of all, I became more physically active/motivated. Due to this consistency, I obtained more clientele, motivating them to lose weight and even encouraged some to participate in their first-ever bodybuilding show. Being consistent is a challenge within itself due to various daily temptations around you, especially when deciding what foods to eat. I always remind my clients of two things: 1- “consistency wins the day,” and 2 – “you’re eating for a look, not a taste.”
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
As a personal trainer, I believe in honesty and being open with my clients. My clients know if they’re not willing to commit one hundred percent, then there is no point in wasting time or money on weight loss results they will never achieve. I am not ashamed to admit that I decline clientele if one shows no interest in putting in work while in a training session with me. I feel these are the traits that set me apart from other personal trainers. When I first started as a personal trainer, it wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be to build clientele. I couldn’t establish any due to being obese. Let’s face it, who truly believes they will honestly lose weight trained by someone who is obese? Finally, I re-evaluated my situation and put myself on a strict diet. It took me a full year to lose weight and build my confidence to be the motivation story for those who did not believe they could make a change. The lessons I have learned along the way are to be consistent, put in the work, and most importantly never give up.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
In all honesty, I do not get out much. If I had to take my best friend to hang out, I’d most likely select to go to Kemah Boardwalk. My family and I enjoy going to Kemah during the summer because they have plenty of activities that keep the children busy. They have live bands, roller coaster rides, and a few restaurants.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
