We had the good fortune of connecting with Dihandria Bright and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dihandria, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I was motivated to start my own business when i became a mother. I knew that i wanted more flexibility and freedom with my time to be present during my newborns milestones. I have always loved home decor and decorative pillows and once the idea of creating a word shaped pillow came to me, it stuck. I knew i had innovated something that could be special.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Starting a business – especially one where you are creating a new niche definitely has had its challenges. I knew little about textiles and had no idea where to begin to search to get these pillows created. There was limited information i could find on starting a pillow company and most of what i found, did not apply to what i was trying to create. So it took a lot of researching, asking questions, wrong turns and pivoting before i found the path that led to the launch of our first collection, The Love Collection. I was so proud of my self for seeing it through. It was a truly a journey that took over two years to bring to fruition. In that time, i increased my skillset, my resoluteness and my faith.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Having not been out much since the pandemic, this is a hard question for me on the new spots but i enjoy:
Ponce City Market for shopping
City Winery for live music
Puttshack Atlanta for a fun outing
Poor Calvin’s for great food and drinks
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mother (Catogna Vomo) is my hero and the reason why i feel confident to try ideas as they pop into my head. There has never been a moment that she has not supported a idea, career change or even two cross country moves. She never questioned it just gave me her unwavering support. When i presented PillowScript to her, she believed in it from the onset. She was one of my first customers. I undoubtedly know that all my successes, past and future- stem from her love, support and encouragement.
