We had the good fortune of connecting with Diona Clark and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Diona, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important fact behind my success and the success of my brand is summed up in the word integrity. I pride myself on making sure that I am being consistent in having a good character of integrity whether I’m conducting something for my business or if I’m in my home with friends because integrity builds trust and if a person trusts you they’ll support you. I’ve always said that I want to be the product of my business and the material that I put out to my audience so I know that entails having a consistent behavior of great integrity at all times meaning that I will not present myself to my audience one way and then be another way when I’m not in the presence of my audience. I have found out that people embrace you when they know that you’re not putting on a facade at times but rather a person that is the same every time they come in contact with you. This helps in business because people know what to expect and they know what they’re getting. This is one of the reasons why people continue to eat at McDonald’s, for the most part the food taste the same no matter where you get it!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I contribute where I am today with my business to the willingness to have an open ear and be a student of learning. This has helped me with personal growth development which carried over to growth with my business. In order for your business to grow growth must first start with your willingness to optimize on every learning opportunity and that’s what I did. I became hungry for knowledge that would help me grow.
There were definitely challenges in my journey of business but what I’ve learned is that every challenge is an opportunity to learn and grow which benefits me.
I’ve also learned that when you have a special call on your life or your destined to do something great everyone can’t go with you and it doesn’t mean that they’re a bad person it may just mean that where your going and where that other person is going it isn’t suitable for you both to occupy the same space at that time in order for growth to happen.
I want the world to know that I am just a girl from Dayton, Ohio that had a dream of doing something big that would help others and now through my experience of Domestic and Gun Violence I turned a tragedy into a passion and now people that experience this same trauma I am capable of helping them believe that there is life after trauma.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take my friend to mall because everyone loves to shop. Lol. Then we would go to get a nice manicure and pedicure and it has to be somewhere that serves wine. Lol. Next we would go check out something historical about the city and head to grab a nice dinner at an upscale Steakhouse that also serves seafood. After dinner head home for tomorrow’s adventures. In the morning we would definitely eat breakfast at a place called First Watch they have great food. Then we would go downtown to check out some of the art displays that are around and do a bike ride alone the river. Once we’re done there grab a bite to eat head back home and maybe go out dancing later that night.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My immediate family has always been a great support to my business and just in life in general. My sister Tequila has helped me alot and has become a mentor for me, she has recently helped me to grow my brand and expand into a different platform. My Public Relations manager Carlos Scott has also been a great help and mentor assisting me with being a public figure and making sure I’m maintaining the image as a community activist. It’s weird because I keep my own books that I authored near me at all times to go back and reference to making sure that I stay the course to attain success and always remembering how far I’ve come. I also reference alot to the book The Compound Effect.
