Meet Dominique Carter | Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dominique Carter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dominique, why did you pursue a creative career?
In the beginning I started to take photos for fun and I needed something creative to do outside of work and school. And that’s still the primary reason why I still do it till this day. I just love to explore and create images from the things that I see. After some time, I started to make a consistent income. Once I realized that I could turn this into something is when I decided to establish a business with photography.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
In my photography I try to create images that tell a story or express some sort of mood/vibe. I draw a lot of inspiration from art, music and films. I got to where I am today by staying consistent in my efforts. I try to shoot as much as I can and share the work that I am the proudest of. Never quitting even in times of self-doubt is how I have been able to stay consistent. I want my work to show that there’s much more than just a “cool” looking photo here. I like for people to be curious, confused, and intrigued by the photos I create to the point where they ask questions. I want my brand to represent that breaking rules, taking risks, and trying new things outside of your normal day to day brings growth and understanding of not only yourself but the world around you.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The group of friends that I’ve made through photography over the years have played a huge role in my growth and in my success. I’m constantly inspired by the people that I hang out and take photos with. There’s a lot of them to name but I will name a few down below.
