We had the good fortune of connecting with Tamra Patterson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tamra, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Honestly all I’ve ever known was entrepreneurship , I started as a hairstylist straight out of high school , working for myself has always been a thing for me . After 13 years in the beauty industry I reinvented myself and by following the leading of the still small voice and began cooking . From there i knew I was just where I needed to be !
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from others is my ability to be creative without limits , this sets my brand a part . I literally with fuse two cultures together and make a dish that breaks the internet! I’m most excited about creating dishes that defy peoples thought process ! The moment that people think there is only one way , i come in and shake it up !
Professionally I got where i am today by never quitting no matter how hard it has been and it has been hard . The world should know that if my brand could make it then so can theirs . What started off as me selling $10 plates at 10 plates per day has evolved to two restaurants in two separate states , multiple Food Network Appearances, Catering for almost any celebrity you could think of , my own cookware line as well as my own spices and sauces line too.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Because i love African American History , we would no doubt hit up all the historic sites for African Americans and then we’d hit up all the new restaurants as I hardly get to go out.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This is a loaded question , First God , I always say I would not be successful without His grace . Then I would have to say me entire ancestral lineage . My Dads Father was a cook in the navy , my dads mom was a professional baker , my dad a chef snd restaurant owner . Good food and the love of it simply runs through my veins.
